Hello everybody. I have gotten hold of an RB20DET that is in a VH commodore for next to nothing, it has no exhaust after the dump pipe and the boost gauge reads 10PSI. The intake pipes have oil in them and it blows a small amount of blue smoke so i assume that the turbo seals are gone. What is a cost effective upgrade for the turbo, manifold and dump pipe to run a large amount of boost reliably? and i saw poncams on ebay and they seemed like a good upgrade aswell. i dont know alot about modifying these engines and would like to know as much as possible about making them go fast without spending a fortune. any help would be appreciated.

getting them moving without alot of money can be hard, but try grabing a rb25 turbo, and put 12psi through it. it will bolt on to the manifold you got now, dont worry about cams for now.

your first list of things to get should be like...eg

rb25 turbo

FMIC

fuel pump

Clutch

Piggy back ecu

Tune

that should get the old girl moving a little better. if you want more, then ul look at a bigger turbo setup later on.

All the help you need is in the form of the FI Guide, a sticky in this section

It contains many valuable links to read, that are filled with information

rb20 in a vh...

what a mad sleeper.

post up some pics when your finished.

that will be one kick ass machine once she's going properly, would look good with a group A kit/ whel arch flares on it with a set of fat rubber.

it would be worth holding onto if the body's in ok condition.
