That was the most hilarious comment from that episode!!!

nah it'll fit into any other R35 GTR, it just wont fit into any earlier ones. and as most you guys should know the earlier ones could be swapped around pretty easily.

loved the beaver comment, i dont think the girl had a clue haha

one of these day, I'm going to buy an alfa just to see what the fuss is all about.......

Alfas, for me, are cars that look when they're released and sound good but are shit at everything else. Old Alfas were unreliable. New Alfas are relatively slow and boring to drive. None of them age well, appearance-wise. The resale on them reflects that.

That said, I do really like the look of the Alfa 159 sedan and I heard a V6 one tear by me a few months ago and thought it sounded porn. I'd consider buying a 1-2 year old one as a daily if I could afford it.

I don't blame TG spreading their review over two, or even three episodes. The interest in the GTR is massive worldwide, and is a sure-fire way to have everyone watching each episode it features. The advertising execs will be rolling in cash

oh this much I got from their reviews and raves about alfas, what I'm trying to uunderstand is the, pardon the cliche, soul and passion behind the car. If by soul and passion they mean the car looking good but constantly breaking down, wouldn't the majority of US made cars fit into that catagory as well? I mean face it, US does make some pretty gorgeous looking cars and pretty shit quality as far as I've heard in the last 10 years. If by soul and passion they meant by design of the car, the majority of of the european designed supercars are just as soulful and passionate. They have been pretty vague about this soul and passion thing, ,which kind of really makes it mysterious and appealing

So.............what do you think the track time would be? Lets start the speeculations!!!!!!

I also think it'll be around the 1.20 mark; based on other tests such as EVO's R35 v 997 GT3 at Bedford, the R35 should be about 1-2s faster than the 997.

Wouldn't you say TG's test track is also a fairly 'fast' track? This should also favour the GT-R's mass which is on the heavy side as well as its gearing and horsepower.

Either way. Look at the top 21 cars on the TG circuit below. If I'm not mistaken there would be no other cars here in this rarified territory that are as quick as the GT-R, yet are also relatively affordable (sub $180K) AND have a back seat too, so your mates can come along.

1 Ascari A10 1.17.3

I still understand the upcoming "track review" will be more of a car review (to hopefully shut up the whingers) but it will be done on a track in Japan.

Apparently Nissan UK have said GTR deliveries will start for them in June 09 now so I'd expect to see the TG track time set after that. Or season 12 at the earliest.

yeah there was a red one in the studio when they were presenting it. registered too from the looks of it. most probably a grey import.

the track shootout wasn't supposed to be next episode... they said "later in the series".

ok I just heard from GTROC that they did have a GTR going around TG track and some one just finished a 6 hour shoot. No mention of the lap time but I sure hope it decimated all.

It's only a six episode series, so it must be near. TG website lists the coming episode's features, inc GTR on a Japanese circuit.

actually, Clarkson is right. Each GT-R's transmission is coded for that GT-R's transmission's ECU and if you replace the transmission you must connect to the transmission computer with Consult III w/ the GT-R card installed and update it for that transmission.

Of course this isn't necessarily the only way to do it but it's how Nissan say it must be done.

GT-R Transmission Config

GT-R Transmission configuration using the Consult III

When the transmission or transmission control unit is replaced, the IP characteristic data must be written into the TCM. This process is call TCM configuration. If this data is not written into the new TCM, the transmission will not operate. When the transmission is replaced, for correct operation, the characteristic data for the new transmission must be written into the TCM.

To perform TCM configuration you will need to download the “TCM configuration application”. This application requires the use of the Nissan Consult III diagnostic tool and the GT-R diagnostic security card.

Come out to a multi-club supersprint. AROCA (Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Australia) is one of the clubs, along with the NSCC and HSV Club, and maybe you can pick it up. I can't stand Alfasuds. Loudest things there bar the VK ex-race cars, but slower than a wet week. I don't understand the "soul" and "passion" either, but a mate used to have an old Alfa 75 and has a soft spot for it.

The way I see it, "character" is a zealot's euphemism for "things that a sane person with a normal car that doesn't suffer from would call shit".

    • Finally had these painted and fitted and pleased with the result. also managed to source 400R fender badges.
    • who can tell me what this is and why my car talks to me? i think it's hilarious. it's on my r34 right above the drivers-side storage compartment. the characters under the wrench say "inspection". every 10 or 20 startups, a voice starts talking in japanese from some speaker in this area below the dashboard. it says a few sentences then shuts off. different from the ETC card reader voice that happens every time i start the car. I've never found the speaker, i've never been able to catch the voice and translate what it says, and i've never found a forum thread that tells me how to reset the warnings. the holes in between the symbols are NOT buttons you can press to reset the warnings. anyone else have this? has the demon lord from Hereditary infected my car?!
    • Would you ever vent this bonnet or will it be unnecessary?
    • Happy new years folks! Wishing you all a successful year of money pit ownership!  So the subframe bushes are out....   Ok, who else has done that job before??  What a C U Next Tuesday of a job that is!  Be glad to not do that again in a hurry! I think I explored every option available to chop the middle section of the bushes out, most of them unsuccessfully! I tried a holesaw, die grinder, normal drill bit, air chisel, etc, etc. The true success happened by accident when I'd decided to try a step drill I spotted on the bench on the way passed.  See, there are benefits to never cleaning up after yourself! It RIPPED through so so much better than the drill bit. It has to be the skinniest one available so its small enough to fit between the inner tube and outer casing but it made easy work of it.  First one i hammered the shit out of... New method- 20250102_185506.mp4   I did the other 5 in less time than I fluffed around with the first one. With the first couple I used the cut off saw (sawsall as the yanks love to call them) to cut a break in the outer casings. Even with that they're still a prick to hammer or air chisel out.  The last few i just went rambo with the air chisel without cutting them. I over cut one of the early ones so will hit the with the mig to fill the cut then sand it off smooth.  The carnage left over-   I've also been "nesting" ie, cleaning up my babies nursery,  ie cleaning the f**king pig sty of a shed. I've got that much shit laying around it's as cluttered as my head!  Getting things put away, in boxes, on shelves, hanging off walls, all to get some working space back again.  Hopefully that keeps me motivated....
    • AFAIK does the base map for Haltech even have the 4D compensation enabled? It's been a while but when I looked at it I remember it was actually using pure TPS as one load signal and MAP for another. Seemed workable but not ideal by any stretch. A lot of people have "make the event-itis" which leads to stuff like this happening.
