yep, I had same deal except the truck was carrying matresses. a queen size inner spring fell off [100kph] hit he wind screen the slid down the side of the car, wipeing out the electric door mirror. he stopped to pick up the matress but wouldn't own up to the damage. in the end I paid for the damage; it was going to cost me more to chase the truckie. you are up the proverbial creek, without a witness/es. good luck with the paint job

truck = how many weight behind the prime mover? i would be driving probably the same if i was driving a big heavy truck

car = 1400kgs very movable in a hurry and easy to make quick decisions

Empty, the prime mover and trailer combo is about 14 tonnes average for us and laden about 38 tonnes for biggest fleet. We run road trains across far north QLD and some of the pics/stats there are amazing. This is why it really pisses me off when I see people coming up to traffic lights and pull in front of trucks. Annoying enough in a car but a truck, they must be stupid or have a death wish or poorly trained.
