Hi,

I just recently bought HKS SSQV BOV 2nd hand off this forum (the series 1, im assuming as its got the bolt at the back) and installed it today, taking the stock BOV out.

The issues im having are:

- Turbo response, is way SHITTIER

- Stock BOV held up to 11.5 and stayed in the 11's stably till near redline it dropped down to 10.1...BUT after putting the HKS BOV in the boost is very unstable and jumps around 11-10.7psi then drops to 9.8psi and feels like the cars having major "flat spots".

I need ppl's opinions on how well these HKS SSQV BOV hold boost compared to the stock and need some suggestions on what could be causing this unstable boost level at peak i.e. hoses not clamped on well? the hose i used for BOV is TOO LONG? lol!

any suggestions please

how about you just get a new stocker or put a GTR bov on, and stop sounding like a WAPPPOOOFF kind of a tool?

I have a stocker running 20psi+ and it works fine.

Listen mate, i understand you hate the 'show off valves' but i guess im a ricer :D So i kinda don't need your shitty advice if its not gonna answer my question at this point :)

no

did you block the plumback line properly?

yeah im pretty sure i did  i did quite a rush job.

i better tighten the plumb back line and adaptor and see how it goes.

thanks all you ppl for ur generous suggestions :P

but if theres any more i'd appreciate it thanks

Should there be a gasket to be fit in between the adaptor and where the adaptor screws onto?

Im trying to figure out why the response seems shit and why the boost peak isn't held stably as opposed to the previous GFB BOV.

ANY HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS( i ask again to all you generous ppl)

Got the newer model one on my car. Car performs as it did with the standard bov. No problems with boost. It might be how you put the bov on the adapter. There is a rubber ring that is meant to be there, but if you didn't have that u wouldn't even make 10 pounds of boost because it would all leak.

and to "The Mafia," what do you do mate, just go around searching for every bov topic and pasting the same comment every time? no one cares about your standard bov holding 100psi boost. He wants help with this and if you cant help then just shut the hell up, simple :woot:

not really, but its funny, your mate and yourself are driving around making these stupid noises that sound like "whaaaaa hey cops I'm over here giving skylines a bad name psshhhhhhh". Therefore, you'll get pulled up and booked for something as stupid as that, while driving around with less than 200rwkw, meanwhile, I'm driving around with over 300rwkw, silently, not attracting any attention.. But then again, I'll most likely get pulled up because people with standard skylines that only buy them so they can go "wwwhhhaaI'mapoofsshhhhhhh" have given the skyline a bad name in general.

oh and one other thing - Putting a Vent to atmosphere BOV on a air flow metered car is f**king stupid, because its just as bad as just cutting a big hole in your intercooler. Vent to Atmosphere BOVs on a AFM car are a big air leak, and it wasn't designed to be that way, its general common sense. If you use one, you're either an idiot trying to attract attention, or you've changed to a MAP sensor and are running som massive horse power.

Trust me, there is not other option there. You either need one or you don't need one, and if you don't need one, then you just want attention - and I hope the cops give you as much attention as you want.

/bov-rant

PS. People that say they put them on because they like the sound - thats bullshit. Its because they want people to know they have a Turbo'd car, and they think it will make them popular.

Me, I don't give a f**k about sound, or what anyone else thinks, I just want it to go fast....and it does..

Wow what a waste of time for you typing all that. We really couldnt give a rats arse about your car and expecially what you think about it. Its plain and simple what im saying to you. This thread is not about your stupid little comments on what YOU think. If you cant help the guy out with a solution then dont hit "add reply." Its quite simple buddy. And as for bov's giving skylines a bad name? I really cant be bothered replying to that because its like arguing with a child. Feel free to talk your crap, just dont expect anyone to listen

no worries. You should go and join nissan silvia forums, because putting a vent to atmosphere BOV on a car that uses a AFM means you have no mech knowledge whatsoever.

Notice how most people that know what they are doing avoid these threads? I was spastic drunk when I posted that rant. Its pretty funny, but so true.

Go and whapoosh your back firing and stalling car around. By the way, BOVs suck unfiltered air through them at idle.
