"sounds a bit dodge but, wat do u mean by longer bolts ?? longer studs ??correct me if im wrong, but would that affect the track ??"

Go do the research yourself, why ask for advice if you think what you get is dodgy.

For my money you can fark orf.

mate u werent even sure about it. simple question only needed a simple answer. not some smart ass on his high horse.

I have the DBA rear Z31 slotted rotors in my garage. I also have a couple of sets of genuine DR30 rear rototrs.

If you look up the DBA web site and look at the catalogue, you will find the following:

300ZX All Z31 Models 1/84 - 9/85 F 608 3 V ented 274 35.5 22 20 81 4

R 605 3 Solid 290 47 10 9 68 4

R30 GTS FJ20DET 1982 - 85 F 608 3 V ented 274 35.5 22 20 81 4

R 600 3 Solid 258 47 10 9 68 4

IF your intelligent enough, you can see that DBA say the hat heights are both 47mm and therefore identical, but genuine Nissan OEM DR30 rear rotors have a hat height, physically of 52mm, making a difference of 5mm and therefore needs a spacer to move the position on the floating part of the rear caliper. Depending on the casting the spacer might be 5mm or maybe 6mm so that the caliper centres over the rotor correctly. To do this, you might also need caliper mounting bolts about 5mm longer as I don't think the standard bolts will have enough bite to hold the caliper.

There was NEVER any mention of longer studs, or offsets, or anything else your adolescent mind wanted to come up with.

Most people on this forum, at least in this CLASSICS SECTION have some mechanical ability and don't need to be quoted chapter and verse to get the job done RIGHT! the first time.

I am sure! and was when I answered but expected you to show some intelligence which obviously was my first mistake. My second was thinking you care, which you obviously don't from what you display in your other thread.

I have been doing this sort of thing a long time and unlike you, I research what I do before I do it and I have an L Series because my R30 is one of only 3 or 4 in OZ and 1 of just 2000 made by Nissan, making it the rarest of all R30 Skylines, but how could I ever think you could understand that.

When I started out, we were putting 289ci Ford V8's in 105E Anglia's and MGB motors in Morris Minors & Austin A30's, at one time we put the 2.5L Buick V8 (now the Rover V8) in a Morris Minor & 327ci Corvette V8 motor into a Rover 105, so go tell someone else to suck eggs, because I have done my time.

Have a nice day!

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
