The 95 model only got driver's airbag and no passenger airbag, is this correct?

I think the AFM has a sticker on it with different colour between S1 & S2. Not sure which colour is which series... I was told the coil packs are also different.

S2 turbos are different, they spool up faster.

A lot of people say the s2 turbo is not as good as s1 tubo, due to a plastic compressor wheel, but unless you intend on increasing the boost more than 10-11psi, in which case s1 & 2 turbos would have limited life, series 2 probably less life, that the plastic wheel is better. Its there for faster spool up, therefore the engine is more responsive.

Even the r34 gtt has a 'nylon' wheel. As read in speed magazine(current). So i dont see why people bag the s2 turbo. Some people say it was for cost cutting, whereas it seems logical to me that it was an improvement, that nissan spent money on.

But yeah, between a s1 n 2, get what u think looks better(interior especially...i think the s2 dash is much nicer) if u have the $$. If not, get what is cheaper, they are very similar.

The series 2's are newer of course and easier to find with options on them like ABS and dual airbags. However the 95 model released just previous to them has the same options available.

The series 2 is a slower car than the 95 by all accounts due to the later ecu map being more environmentally friendly I guess. The quickest standard cars at the moment are all 95's I think, running standard turbo's and ecu's.

If I had to get another R33 I'd get the 95 again for sure.

So ur sayin if i saw a 95 ecu for sale sumwhere cheap, it would be a good upgrade (till i shell out sumtime in the future for a powerfc)?

never knew this whole 95 1.5 series business... learn something new every day...

I dont think skylines are rare..especially in sydney. Guess it depends what your definition of rare is....try last night, george street...must have seen at least 15-20 in 1.5 hours lol.

nah siksII, although there are a lot of skylines in George ST, beware that it isnt the same person, coz last time i saw this guy in a white Series 2 skyline near hungry jacks turning. Then afta that i saw him another 3 times in a 1 to 2 hr period..

some pplz jus like to do happy laps and have $$ to waste on petrol. Or it could i was wrong and he was looking for a parking spot for 2 hrs..lol who knowz?

    • Hi All, I'm based in Sydney and want to get hold of 4 stock R34 GTT wheel caps as pictured. Cheers
    • Haha im flattered! Although my poor boat is collecting dust in the garage, as it hasn’t been driven in like 6 months. I forgot the to put the trickle charger on too, so the battery is likely toast now.. I have the frenchys kit. It is fantastic. My only gripe was that the hard lines from the firewall needed some tweaking, however, this was mainly due to my specific turbo and dump combo. The weight and size packaging is much nicer too. I think I have some pics on my build thread somewhere.. my justification for the kit was more “why not” I had gone to the trouble to modernise just about every other part of the car..
    • Actually, ethanol has probably never been cheaper, on a tax free basis, than petrol. With fuel excise being what it is, and only being levied on the hydocarbon component, not the ethanol component, and ethanol for non-drinking purposes not being subject to liquor excise - E85 was cheaper, but not because the combustible liquid itself was particularly cheaper.
    • Maybe? If changing the cat to a higher flowing cat, caused the turbo to spool more quickly, and those areas of the map had not been tuned for the boost level it is now seeing, then yes you would need a re-tune. How dangerous it is running without the updated tune would depend on how far out the tune is with the now higher boost levels, how the engine protection has been setup, is the ECU compensating with a wideband sensor, is the boost control closed loop blah blah million other things... But yeah having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if changing out the cat for a high flow, in say a full 3" exhaust, made no noticeable difference at all.
    • Ah yep. I asked a auto electrician about getting a cheap rebuilt alternator vs a new one. He also said he used to it back in the day but it ended up costing similar to what a new one would and recommended getting a new one,.
