thats actually pretty good ay 5 seconds i think the fastest lap done by a v8 was greg murphys commie he did a 2:06 a few years ago but still for a car 20 years old thats good i think especially when u think bathurst is a good track for v8s wit straights...... i rekon the gtr would give a supercar a good run for its money around barbagello raceway....

dont suppose u have times to compaire for the gtr around barbas...

i thought the old touring cars had to be road going cars hence why we had the vl walkingshaw... they built them so they could enter bathurst... so the gtrs u think properly had 5-600hp n coilovers n all that

Despite all the nonsense spoken (notleast by Fred Gibson at the time) the GT-R's horsepower was the equal or better than that of the atmo cars. Think about it. If you can get an easy 600hp out of a road car how hard would it have been for GMS to do better?

The times I have for Wanneroo were on the high 59 second & low 60 second mark. Can't remember if they were qualifying or fastest lap times, however. The V8's are much quicker than the Gt-R ever was.

The group A race cars were not some half arsed converted road car with a set of Tein coilovers and a boost controller. They were a beautifully engineered bit of kit which cost huge sums even in 1990 dollars. The cost of the GIO car that Bob Forbes campaigned for Gibbs & Onslow was, for its day, eye watering.
