i know this may have been covered before but i thought i'd post up..

i went into repco and asked if they sold a dash mat/cover for R32 skylines. after a couple minutes of searching, they sure do!

Moulded Car Carpets of western australia make the "Aussie Mate" dash mat range for most common cars which you see on the racks, but they also make a range for cars that they don't produce for often.

they have to be ordered so i couldn't see the final product.. but for only $51 i thought i'd bite the bullet and see how it turns out. i'm actually really happy with the design.

it only took 2 days to get to my local repco store from the day i made the order.

they are moulded to shape and made of good quality. they look like they will last.

here's some pics:

what do you guys think? some people say dash mats look too 80's, but i think it looks nice.

for anyone interested the product code is AMNI191BL.

hmmm ive got 2 questions

first one is what is the dail you have in the RHS air vent? and how big is it - and how does it stay in there

secondly - is that a drift style handbrake? how do you find it?

it's a boost guage. not sure of the size but it fits in nice and snug without any brackets or modifying.

yup it's a drift handbrake. brought it for $15.

cheers guys :D

if anyone wants extra/different pics just give me a yell.

if your putting it in that side vent then 60mm gauges fit mint, like the Apexi EL2 series

Looks mint man Dave, really neat!

Hook me up with pictures of that other shit we were talking about yesterday ;)

oh shit man.. i totally forgot!

dw i'll be getting that pink tutu and the wig for those pics you requested asap. :)

i want to get one - every time i do a motorkhana (about once a month on average) i tape up the button with duck tape

if your putting it in that side vent then 60mm gauges fit mint, like the Apexi EL2 series

cheers man - yeah my 32 has a hole there so was thinking of doing something with it :D

Hi dmr,

Thanks for the heads-up on these dash mats, have always wanted some for the r32 & r33 i've got but always thought you'd have to get custom ones made-up.

Went down to my local Repco shop this morning and was able to order a dash mat for both.. I think the dash-mat no for the r33 should anyone want it is: AMNI192BL for black and AMNI192GY for grey in colour, there is also a mocha one in colour, but didn't even query that as I though it'd look Sh!t..

Cheers,

Adrian

great

what colour did you go with?

i was considering grey since my car is gunmetal but i passed up on it thinking it would look ricey.

if you get some pics for the R33, post them up.

Hey,

Went for black in colour on both the R32 & R33, just thought I'd stick with stock colours.. I wanted one moreso to protect the R32 GTR dash and keep the bubble from growing which seems to plague all R32's and make them look crappy. I won't be velcro'ing it in place or anything it can just sit there..

Haven't picked them up yet as there still being ordered in but mine were supposed to be $65ea inc GST and delivery as I'm regional, not city, so might be cheaper in the city should they have stocks available??

I'll post pics of R33 when available

    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
    • Thanks Paul I reached out to Autotainment but they no longer work on JDM cars as the guy who used to do the work moved on and is no longer doing that kind of work. I am talking with Level Up Audio though.
