What Brand Timing Belt Is Recommended?

hi guys,

i want to change my timing belt but not sure if i should go with gates which i had before - or maybe a jap brand is better like hks or tomei...thoughts?

running 325awkw so needs to be good quality...

Unless you are running higher than factory rev limit, or using big cams/springs, i would personally use a Nissan one, they are fine for 100,000k+, and not much more than the aftermarket ones.

my limiter is set @ 8500rpm & i have drop in cams

+1 for Nissan OEM. I have HKS cams and springs in mine and use the std one no problems.

had a nissan one was fine but now with the rebuild i went to a gates item

this time around i went with an OEM belt...now it makes sense why my previous engine made that whining sound on idle, it was my blue gates belt & yes my pulleys also picked up chunks of blue rubber from the belt as covered off in the above thread

if anyone wants an oem genuine nissan belt I have 2 brand new ones sitting here. find out what they cost, then send me a pm and I'll do it $$$ cheaper.

straight from the horses mouth: racepace recommend the Nissan OEM belt. The Nismo one is apparantly too strong and in theory doesn't allow enough flex to account for expanion of the motor when it warms up. Good enough for me OEM belt it is.

Nissan OEM Belt is $86 + GST.

I'd take you up on the offer for the belt but i'm in Melb and much easier for me to just go to my local Nissan dealer. Thanks anyway.

I had a Nismo Timing Belt when it came with the car, it seem to have run fine.

So down the long run of a Nismo Timing Belt, would it cuz issues?

Reason I changed back to the Nissan OEM belt is cuz I did not know how many K's the Nismo one had done, so to be on the safe side, I wanted a decent item and genuine was the way to go IMO.

So Nissan OEM belt is a winner!

On another note, what do u guys reccommend for interval in years,   subie and puegeot recc 4years.  I believe toyota is happy with 10years

I dont think nissan has a year interval.  I do mine every 8years
