Basically i've installed a single t04z on my rb26 and want to run a single 90mm Q45 afm along with my power FC. Have looked at some tutorials on here, but there mainly for Z32's.

I've had a look at both the wires running to either afm.

The factory rb26 afm has 4 wires, opposed to the q45 which has only 3.

The rb26 afm has 2 wires separately and 2 wires that merge into a single casing (so it looks like 3 wires, but really 4).

I've worked out what the 3 wires on the q45 plug are from (paul33 webpage) but unsure of which wires they connect to on the rb26 loom.

So i was wondering if anyone knows how its done. or which wires go to where? and whats the extra wire for?

I'm just going to parallel the 2 sets of rb26 afm's wires together and run it into one Q45 afm.

the Q45 afm is a bit of a hit and miss lately, apexi only document it to around 260rwkw

the z32 is rated well over 300rwkw, we've seen 360rwkw with a Z32

The Q45 has 3 pins (its on my site paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com) its basically power, ground and signal - the site tells you which which

then you just need to work out whats on the rb26 plugs, meggalla's site should have this for you - search for it on google

80m RB25 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 300ps (221kW)

80mm VG30 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 500ps (368kW)

90mm VH41 airflow meter can measure up to approx. 400ps (294kW)

i think there different models of the humble Q45

anyway try it and let us know how u go

would be good to see some high power out of it

if you do - can you please post up the serial # of the unit and a photo of the label

wil help other guys yield out incorrect Q45 models

I've looked on Magalla's site, and theres no info on what wires are what on the rb26 afm, only on rb25's.

Just need to know what the 2 wires joined together are? are they just ground wires? while the other 2 being power and signal.

Okay i think i found what wires go to what on the rb26 afm's as it seems they are the same as rb20/25 afm's.

So was just wondering as the 26 afm has 2 ground wires (12v ground and a signal ground) can i run these 2 wires together and join it up to the one ground wire on the q45 AFM?.

be interresting to see results on this. there is a guy on here, a trader selling these now, saying they are good for over 300rwkw, mate of mine just finished his build, and his AFM tops out just shy of 5000rpm (RB30DET, GT35R). on only 16psi its still topping out relatively early, and although its a 30 and GT35R, i'd still say its one of the 'low power' AFMs

Hi Paul, how confident are you in the plug wiring for the RB20DET AFM on your web site?

RB20 AFM Nissan Skyline R32

Wire A - Not Connected

Wire B - Signal

Wire C - 12v Ground

Wire D - Signal Ground

Wire E - 12v Power

Mine, a 1990 R32GTST, seems to be;

Wire A - Not Connected

Wire B - Signal Ground = black

Wire C - 12v Ground = black

Wire D - Signal = white

Wire E - 12v Power = black with white stripe

I cant remember the exact details but I did speak to Gary about these Nissan V8 MAFS and he reckons the difference is the element inside them .

If I have it right some of these elements can "interchange" and thats the primary difference between say an 80mm R33 GTST MAF and the 80mm Z32 TT one . He thinks that its a similar situation with the 90mm V8 ones and obviously the one to have is the 90mm body with the insert/element that the Z32TT one has .

With care it may be possible to transfer the guts to get the right combination but its always preferable to have the right one brand new where possible .
