As it says...

Our biggest issue at the moment in getting this club up and running officially is the fact that we have a very diverse range of people wanting membership and wanting to be apart of that glorious thing that is, SAU_VIC.

On one hand we have the people that want CAMS affiliation, track days exclusive to our members.

On the other we have those that just want to be apart of SAU to hang out, enjoy and do things with those that are in this group as we all are a great bunch of people, more of a social skyline enthusiast type role

Now the first option is great and what we all deep down want. Involvement in a club that is able to hold track days and group events exclusive to our club. The only issue with this is that it gets costly.

Just to get the club up and running with CAMS affiliation is going to cost us all. There is also a lot of paper work associated with it and a lot of time needs to be dedicated. We will need a ABN, PO BOX, Public Liability etc etc and this costs money.

Lets say we got this far, we would then need someone/people dedicated to planning and organising events. When i say events im not talking about "yeah we are going to meet up at bell st maccas and cruise down to st kilda", im talking about a proper event, with maps and a purpose.

This type of club will take dedication from people who can dedicate their time and resources into the club. It will also not be a cheap club to join from what we have already researched and as such may not be viable for a lot of people out there. As such i think we need to find some way to have both!

Track days and such for those that want it and just social events for those that dont want to have to pay for the rest of it.

Perhaps we can make a club that has those who want track work etc and on the side with lesser access and so fourth have a "social club" for those that who just want to go on general cruises, meets etc.

I would say that the best way to do this would be to put it to a poll and let u guys decide.

I think the best option for all is the option between Full and Social...

ideal structure would be...

Minimal CAMS affiliation (ie less than 40 members registered for CAMS purposes). Costs $440 p/a

Then you have the social club, charge $20 for membership, gets you a few stickers and a membership card which gets you habib rates at a couple of workshops etc.

Lets say we get about 50 members (not that hard) that's $1000 to start the club. This could give us a good base to work with.

For members wanting track days they'll have to opt for the CAMS affiliation route which could be $20 + cost for cams affiliation divided amonst no of ppl wanting to participate in track days.

Without a track day membership you can't participate in a SAU VIC organised track day, but you are more than welcome to watch.

How's that sound guys?

Last time we had a drive to get SAU into MAS a lil impromptu BBQ raised $240 sumfin, so $20 per person for membership isn't a hard ask.

As for ABN and PO Box I can handle that, I've done it before for my own business, so its not too much of a hassle. Biggest hassle is book keeping and Public Liability.

$20 a person is nothing. I was part of the Volvo club of Victoria (don't laugh) which is a non-cams club and that cost me $50 a year. That included: a monthly meeting (with guest speakers), economy runs (even with other clubs), a discount card, cruises, bbqs and a quarterly magazine. So there were formalities but it was also very sociable. So the option between full and social is a good way to go...

with the full membership u will need to pay 30-50 a year ontop of the $20 (or around there)... which includes cams, track days, official cruises and bbqs and functions etc

Inark thats still not very expensive, i think that most people would be willing to pay that. Thats less than a weeks insurance!! (for some) I like the 2 stage membership as well. I think people would pay $30 just for social mem., just to help the club along a bit at the start.

Now all i need is a car, still cant find anyone selling an R32 5speed with sunroof in Vic. :)

:) track days dont matter about what car u got or what mods... its about experiencing things that most ppl dream about... ive always wanted to go out on to a track and see what i can do no matter what car im in... its not a race jayden so if ur car isnt AS fast its no matter :D

no one will laugh... cause thats not the type of ppl that we want in the club.

West... no rollcage will be needed :)

James & Max thats great to hear... also for cams affiliation we will need volunteers of about 10+ppl who will need to be trained by the CAMS guys as field marshalls etc for track days... this means NO track work for these ppl and they will only be doing marshalling so im sure from the guys who arent going to go the full membership we can organise ppl from the club to do stuff like this if they have the time.

will keep u guys updated as we go.

    • Hi There I went through a rabbit hole of reading about Xenon headlights and the ADR regulations for having them installed. As people have been defected by running factory xenon I was researching in ways to make them compliant. Everyone always say needs to be self leveling and have washer installed, which I don't necessarily agree with. For this argument I'm using R34 as reference as I'm more aware on the construction of the headlight compared to the R33 Xenon, which may still be the exact same case.   For the self leveling clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles As you can see the bold text "these manually adjustable devices from driver seats" are fine to use. As Series 1 Xenon model headlights do have a 4 level adjuster on the right near the ignition (however not series 2) then these model are consider compliant in that argument.   For the Self Cleaning aspect of this argument clause taken from ADR 13 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles Now i can understand the argument that Xenon will need a washer as they are over 2000 lumens, but I clicked on the 12 at the end of that sentence and it takes me to the end notes which states R34 for headlight lenses are plastic, not sure if PL is mark as I don't currently have my skyline to confirm that marking is there. But could you not technically get a lenses with the PL marking on it and then get away with the argument that you need a washer. I went through a quick read of the adr and might have missed something else that may cause them to be non-complaint.    But wouldn't these technically be complaint headlights   Would love to hear other people input on this and shed some light   Edit In regard to the the washer portion I might be mistaken ADR 45 (which I believe is Regulation NO.45) states 12 cd (candela) I dont understand that portion in regarding to calculating the candela if anyone can shed some light. Otherwise I guess throw in a washer for the headlight and you definitely comply.

    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
