also, I'm not sure what type of tyres you have, but if they are cheapies then for sure they would have contributed to this incident. having good tyres is so important. they are the only link to the road and there is no point having great suspension, or good brakes or good power if you then slap on some nexen/nangkang/wanli tyres on it. yes good tyres are crazy expensive but the safety of you and your family and other people on the road make them well worthwhile.

Actually talked about this later that night.. one of these days my partner is gonna take me out for a bit of defensive driving .. he did a course a while back..

I wish I had known to just take my foot off the accelerator but unfortunately it all comes down to my inexperience as a driver.. I think we may be getting a shitter just for me to drive around to gain more experience before I drive the Skyline again.. you know when I look back I think I pushed harder on the accelerator as I lost control because I did a full 180.. I've learnt that lesson the hard way..

I can't even tell what tyres you have on there.. But if you are on a budget I would highly recommend a set of Federals SS595 they are in the cheaper bracket very affordable and they are great tyres.. Too soft for the track but perfect street tyres if you are on a budget or have a family.

I've had this set on my car for over a year now and have done a few trackdays and driver training/ skidpans on them and they have held up very well.

Thanks heaps DIF.. because we are on a very tight budget.. still need to do 100k service on both our cars.. now coz I've stuffed the tyre and alignment and whatnot that's another few hundred.. not to mention new rims..

100k can be expensive depending on what you need can sometimes cost up to $600 +

I have 34GTX rims on my car at the moment which are 225-35-16 (I think) and I paid around $147 a tyre.

The only places that do sell Feds are Payless tyres and ABC tyres I'm not sure if anyone else does but my advice will be to shop around for the right price. They might have the dealers on their website if you have a look..

OK well it turns out to be the lower suspension sub frame.. trying to source out parts.. anyone know of any other places to get parts.. hopefully in the hills shire.. blacktown area? even parramatta.. ..

talk to mark at hills motorsport, at the back of the complex at 2a victoria ave castle hill. he will have all the stuff you need in stock.

but it wont be the whole sub frame, just lower control arm and/or tie rod

I suggest taking in the bent parts for identification purposes. I had to go there twice because I picked up a driver's side lower control arm instead of a passenger side one. Wasn't a massive problem, just an easy swap, but it did involve driving there and back twice.

Be careful there though, there are plenty of shiny things in there that will tempt you to spend more than you need to

hey Jeffworld2.. not yet.. need to find a subframe for the 34.. I'm sure that's what my uncle was talking about (he had a look at it lastnight).. because he said it wasn't the control arms.. just the lower suspension frame so I'm assuming it's the whole frame.. for the rear suspension..?

dad's gonna call me back.. it's actually at my parents house in Glenwood (hills area).. while I'm here in Mount Annan without my poor baby.. wonder how she's holding..

AH, it's been pissing down here, so we've been seeing a heap of people in the same predicament Not cool for you, I hope you can get it all fixed up no hassels

Defensive driver training is invaluable, and skidpan is actually so much fun that everytime it rains, you're gonna deliberately want to kick it out I kid you not! If you're trainers in Syd are anything like ours here, you'll get your ass kicked if you just 'take your foot off the accelerator'. The point of defensive driving is to learn how avoid as much damage with as little effort as possible, in the case of a slide, continuing with it, but steering through it safely, to miss obstacles & get yourself straight again. If you take your foot off, all you'll do is regain grip, and you don't want that while you're steering!! Anyway they're a tonne of fun, you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Not sure about where you guys get your federals down there, but all the Jax Quickfit stores here have a deal with the Qld supplier, you might find they have the same deal there Anyway it's worth trying!

hello again.. you guys were right.. it was actually the lower right suspension arm that was bent.. dad went down to sss in Girraween to pick up the part today... hopefully it's the right one..

Uncle is fixing it on thursday hopefully.. and she'll be back on the rd by the weekend *fingers crossed*...

HOLY POO ANOTHER ANNA!!!.. Anna's must love Skylines.. I know I do..

Yerr will stick to partner teaching me for the mean time.. then when I get the confidence I might check it out.. but atm I don't think we can afford to do any damage to our cars.. we have three young kiddies.. anyone wanna buy any of them.. they're good kids.. not very picky.. our oldest loves fast cars and Skylines.. and they help out around the house.. goodlooking kids too.. any takers???

Suspension is all fixed ... getting 4 new rims and tyres fitted today.. turns out both rims at the rear were damaged .. the rear left was damaged on the inside...

Can't wait.. getting the car back tomorrow ..
