OK some more progress today. the main thing is the interior painting is finished and looks great (well as great as a backyard job done in the middle of winter car). of course it is already scratched :/ but it was bound to happen sooner or later.

here it is with the race seat mounted up

and with the real seat (as modelled by mark)

and the boys were kind enough to cut the booster out with a hacksaw to make sure I didn't want to keep it

steering wheel is in the right place (well hopefully)

clutch pedal back in.

so much still to do but at least we are doing up bolts instead of undoing them at last

Good to see the traditional stubby of VB sitting pride of place on the roof...all you need now is a pack of Winnie Blues on the floor...since you have no dash to put them on.

I was craving some instant gratification after you guys left, so I cut up some perfectly good dog leashes and mounted them as interior straps for the doors. Then I got even more ambitious and mounted one of the door skins. Of course this was bound to come back and bite me on the ass, and did when I got out the router to put a nice little slit in the door panel for the dog leash handle. The router worked fine... until it bit into something and went crazy and I put a ragged gash in where I meant to have a nice neat slit. So now the slit has been converted to a dirty big hole courtesy of the hole saw use to cover up my mess!

there is sum very poor welding done on the braces in the engine bay

There not bracings,,,just filling in the gaps cut through the firewall. They have absolutely no structual significance. I could bog then up and repaint them if so desired. :ninja::D:D

Jason yes that is my beer and if you look real close my smokes are on the roof as well.:D:)

Mark no blood I hope as it was Duncans turn this last weekend.

Boosters gone!!!

Well done!

Andrew I bought all my earls fittings last weekend, I got everything at 50% but still cost a mint so im selling off some of the spares I have acumulated to recoupe some cost. If you want to put your name on anything give me a call.

why have you still got the alloy compliance plate? useless weight!

When you need a bit of alloy strap to mount something you'll know where to find it

I'll be heading down a similar path in the not too distant future and i am getting some good ideas. I also spent a fair bit of time on sunday stripping useless wiring out of a silvia. I don't know what nissan were thinking when they designed the body loom. Why does the door buzzer that's mounted under the dash need to be earthed in the boot, along with a few other things?!?

good old body looms!!

Ive reduced the loom in my GTR back to bugger all really.

Also saved some weight and space by using 20 amp switches and cable without relays. Made the whole job so much simpler come time to wire up things like headlights and wipers which will get stuff all use anyways.

sounds good brad....and we need to catch up some time, we need some sort of device to go between the doors and roof to keep rain out. and you need to show mark where to fit 2 master cylinders before he works out how to bolt the old one back on without a booster

Is someone insulting my welding again! A few horns on one weld and no one let's you forget! Seriously though, there was a huge gap that I had to build up to close the gap. Filler would have been better but I figured that it wasn't the right stuff to use on the firewall. Had some trouble with the firewall, kept blowing holes mounting the sheeting.

when suits you Duncan and mark??

Ill call you tommorrow anyways.

I can bring the whole car with me but you'll be pushing it down the street to try the brakes and the new ones aren't even bedded in yet. That might be the easiest way actually, The pedal box is a prick to pull out so can bring the whole car at least you can see how it works then.

Have you got any pricing for master cylinders as yet??

Assuming you are happy to use Tilton cylinders they can now be had at a very good price.

And I shall bring some rain deflecing devices with me too!

oh I was thinking 2 standard cylinders lol. damn. (diameter would have been hilarous like that)

next sunday is best for me at this stage but monday is waaaaaaay too early to organise days for a car weekend.

and Mark....those horns are nothing compared to the shrek ears we saw yesterday on the steering wheel support

cant sunday, im at eastern creek for a skid pan I think.

Saturday I can or friday night after work.

Hmmm two standard masters would be overkill but could have a port for each calliper!!

Need to have a decent box for nice bias adjustment. if you mount to the fire wall makes it difficult to use a balance bar.

Hey don't drag me into "Off Topic" chatter in this thread or warnings will be issued. Marks have enough trouble finding particular posts as it is.

But seeing as we are off topic,,, plans are afoot for some interstate racing before the years out.

Neil.

give me a break man, can we hold on for interstate stuff until next year? we can run the falcon and stagea in convoy...so you guys have to stop for fuel every 45 min too :D

Neil is the only one doing anything cause he is the only one who doesnt race a skyline

very perceptive comment there....

Haha, You guys have gotta stop posting things your making me spend more money!

i neeeed to get racing again!

and might hit you up for dry sump bits brad. tho money needs to go towards motor at the moment
