Haha - normal for a lot of girls is what I meant.

Apologies if that offends anyone, and there are a heap of terrible drivers out there, male or female. :D

Auto is the go as that is what she wants and she is the one driving it the most. just as long as they don't suck compared to the manual.

Not worried about guys trying to pick her up.

She has been driving my jeep for a couple of years and trust me on this one, she gets a lot of attention driving that. Funny thing is any time I/she drives the it somewhere like chapel street, everyone stares at the jeep more than all the hotted up cars. Guess no on expects to see a big filthy 4wd down there. hehe.

Kia Carnivale (or something) added for size reference :)

thanks for all the replies - I will definitely research some more and see if I can fine a relatively stock, R33 GTST auto in melb.

cheers

she'll be fine! I didn't find my R33 any harder to drive than my Laser...the only difference is, when you put your put down it actually goes LOL

you can drive them around just like a normal car. Especially if it's going to stay fairly stock. The only thing that caught me out was changing to a RWD car...tell her to take it very easy in the wet, untill she gets used to it!

just be careful with an auto ... if its wet ... and she presses too hard ... woops ... can be bad .. very bad ... i know :)... especially if she presses hard enough to press the switch ... and in the wet .. very very very bad!!! ... if u've ever been in an auto skyline u will know what i mean ... just the sudden power when u press too hard!!! just my advice thats all ..

Buy a 33 for yourself. Tell her to get her own bloody car. She can buy the mirage off you.

If shes always doing her nails etc and isnt the best driver, i know for sure that a 180+kw turbo 6 cylinder rwd lsd car would be VERY VERY low on the list. Down near a ferrari. The mirage sounds perfect for her.

your definately right about the wet, I know too well after becomming best buddies with a telephone pole, you don't even have to hardly accelerate to loose the back end, I used to have a s13 too which was auto, when it changes gears in the wet....not good at all.

Guest saiyaman

thanks slip, actually the power in an auto s13 is piss weak, and is very easy to control, but when it changes gear in the wet the back can slip and has, just something others should know since it's gonna be this guys first skyline.........about the pole that was in an r33 gtst

thanks to the people, calling me soft and telling me to make her buy her own car. Very constructive, where do you get off thinking you know a thing about my life?

perhaps she put $10k towards the car and I am paying the rest?

perhaps she has $50k to put towards a house deposit she doesn't want to spend on a car?

perhaps I owe her a bunch of money and she would rather a car?

perhaps you should stfu unless you have something worthwhile to add to the conversation, and stop guessing about my circumstance.

Why can't I buy whatever fawkin car I want for her?

What do you care what I do with my money.

Great to see all internet forums are basically the same...

My jeep would be harder to drive in the wet than most any skyline I would think and she manages that just fine, so I am not overly concerned, just wanted to hear peoples opinions.

If I am going to be paying for a second car - which she would happen to drive more than me - then I want it to be fun, not this crappy mirage.

I believe after the advice I have gotten off here, I will find a couple to drive and see if she thinks she can drive it day to day. If not I will go and buy something else.

thanks for the advice...

1. We don't. We're just calling you a soft****.

2. Don't think i'll be "STFU'ing" anytime soon.

3. We're not guessing about your circumstance, we're providing advice. That IS what you came here for ?

sheesh, some people get the wrong end of the stick easily....

Strich,

I have gotten all the advice I was looking for not including your post, but thanks for personal abuse anyways.

Think about it for a second.

If I was captain soft**** I would of bought her a nice shiny new beetle, or some other expensive cute little convertible. Why the hell would I buy my gf a skyline unless that is exactly what she wanted. I am buying it for me you smacktard...that is why I am trying to work out whether I can get away with her driving it 90% of the time without writing it off.

If I can, then that is cool, because not only do I have my jeep which is my play vehicle, but I also end up with a skyline that I can drive on weekends or long trips.

My jeep is not driveable for long distances and is basically built specifically for rock crawling and hardcore offroad stuff. A skyline will be my second car, which also happens to be my gf's daily driver as she needs a car for everyday use.

Anyways - pointless fawking internet debates aside, unless you have something to actually add apart from abuse then you can keep it to yourself.

Or just post it up, whatever makes you feel better. :)

Relax their dude, their not that fast... My sister drives my R33 GTST some times, coz i borrow her car when i go out and she takes mine. Shes got a 98 Laser, and she drives my car really well, its manuel as well. Though, she once told me she nearly lost it in the wet, and she got really scared LOL.

BTW, zzzz my car is for sale, manuel, stock A1 mechanical!

zzzz, dude you did ask if we thought you were mad. Some people think you are, and some dont. You are quite right about being insulted, thats not fair.

Strich9ine - insulting him is not really cool. If the mrs was dictating the terms, then he would be captain soft****, but thats not the case.

A 33 is powerful enough to get someone, anyone, into trouble. No they arent that quick, but they are rocketships to some people.

I personally wouldnt get a 33 gtst due to what you said about her driving.

If you ask the question, dont complain when you get the answer.

Exactly!! i used to hammer my Laser around corners in the wet....first time i did that in the Skyline i almost ended up doing a full 360 lol

zzzz, I'm sure she'll be fine - but as many ppl have said WET ROADS is where she might come unstuck. If you end up getting one, take her out somewhere deserted when it's wet and get her to put her foot down when taking a slow corner so she can feel twitchy the arse end can be :D

of course, good tyres would prolly help..mine are crap :)

thanks for all the advice.

the wet road thing is definitely something to look out for, but I know that it is a matter of learning to drive the new car, and adjusting to the road conditions. She can do that fine - anyone can if it is drilled into them enough times. :)

I appreciate all of the honest answers - that's all I was looking for, some personal first hand experience from all of you guys that drive the cars day in day out.

I have weighed up the options and will be looking for a R33 - gtst auto, which I believe will be easy for her to drive and also fun for me when I want to go a bit quicker.

Maybe later on if I can work out a way to fit an engine management system or EBC that can have different power profiles, I will go and mod the crap out of it :D Very hard to resist the urge of the dark side :)

any car can be bad int he wet. Good luck finding a nice car for you and the Mrs.

(ps nice job defending yourself back there! appears to me these guys are just concerned of gettin their arses caned by a chick in 33)!!!!

Have you considered that possibly it was your driving skill (or lack thereof) that got you so well acquainted with the pole?? Even if the back does slide out its possible to stay in control of the car.
