Well i suspect alot of his speedos were "corrected" we were getting some cars with worn steering wheels, seats etc etc saying they had only done 30,000kms. May i ask what you payed for this? sure R34's have come down but this should still have cost you around $55 to $65000 compled and on the road.

Did he offer you any other cars, usally holds alot in stock especially evo's, R34 and S15.

That same car, Jimmy offered it to me for $49000 and that was before I started haggling. So I hope Specrzx got it for 49k at the most. I had a good look at the cars, and 3 others he had in stock. They were all pretty clean, except the V Spec II Nur had a full respray. The panels and doors lined up good, the interiors of all the GTR's were very clean. But I didnt get a chance to check the undercarriage which is very important.

Mate of mine bought a blue non V Spec for 50k not long ago and it was a rust bucket. He then took the car back and complained and they exchanged it for a white one. He still had problems with the 2nd car as it didnt track properly. Did a few wheel alignments and still problem persisted. Took it to Allie at Powerplay and he spotted the right side had a heap more castor than the left but still had factory rods. So therefore that car had a hit on the right and wasnt fixed properly.

I dont want to scare anyone here, but I thought this should be made public.

Caveat Emptor

hehe, I know this guy has a little 'wharehouse' on barr st. pain in the arse for all the people who live in the biscuit factory as he parks his cars all up and down the street which doesn't leave much room for residents.

any car sold without auction sheet, or log books, or service book should be treated as suspect if it has less than average kms. for a 1999 R34 GTR I would say about 80,000-120,000 would be the average. There are some with less, but don't forget it's a 10 year old car, and don't buy the bullshit about people in japan not doing any driving....

Just to let you know i just purchased by non v spec r34 gtr for 49k with a genuine 38k on the clock. This is just for a comparison.

you say genuine but did it come with the auction report? and the log books? and the service book? cars with kms that low will almost certainly be one owner cars too so you should have the owner history as well. just saying it's very hard to back up kms of an imported car unless you have the paperwork to support it.

hrmm... scary... well i drove it and hurted her abit =\ for the first day JUST incase anything was gunna break if i did hurt it abit before freight to perth and after that it still seemed ok.. no tappy noises drive is smooth everything seemed like its in working order i guess.. Maybe i shoulda spent a bit more time checking the car out =[. Mxfly did u notice a small dent on the rear quater panel of the right hand side?? I noticed it and I asked what happened here but this was after i purchased it, they're response was... I didn't even know. So i jsut couldn't be bothered waiting and just said don't worry about it... being impatient kills. But then again I might not come by this very often and it is my last sports car... Talk about small mods, the simple mods are a definite, indicators and clutch sounds like a good idea... Like the feel of a immediate engagement. and u got 13.2 ?? nicee

Sigh sigh... Anyways i wanna fit in a aluminium radiator, arc airbox and n1 water pump. What else do you guys recommend for cooling? I want this car to last as long as possible. Do vspecs come with oil cooler?? i didn't look thoroughly in the engine bay but it had braided lines from the oil filter to the front bumper..

Hi,

If you're interested in cooling (especially if you take your car back to Perth) you can get an exact NACA duct copy of the V Spec II fitted into your bonnet.

Let me know if you want the source. It only costed $45 + gst + post. It's plastic and you also supply a bit of SAAS black mesh to your panelbeater.

The NACA Duct helps to cool the turbo area

Cheers

By upgrading your radiator you should be able to keep the temp at a lower level.

N1 Water pump = pretty much race applicaitons, I probley would not bother IMO but its doesn't hurt I guess.

ARC Air box = to allow better flow of air to the turbos.

Oil coolers are an aftermarket item and will lower the temp of the oil in result keep the engine running smoother.

Do you have a remote oil filter?

BTW just for a peace in mind, your car is designed in Japan. Its a sub-tropical climate and the temparatures can reach pretty high. So Nissan would have designed the cars to be able to cope with quite hot and cold weather. You living in NSW (judging by your number plate) I don't think NSW will have such extreme temps as to Japan / Asia. Besides those bush fires you get in the summers.

What Iam trying to say is you can do all these cooling mods, which will only do better but not to get worried if you don't upgrade the cooling.

But having said that these cars are designed in Japan, when tuning a car to race spec, you gonna need all the cooling you can get. Japan or any part of the world.

"chinatown eddie" and Jimmy, his brother, in australia st camperdown sells to a lot of international students

with international licenses and more money than sense. He makes a big deal about how he sources his cars from

japanese private sellers but I don't buy it. He advertises as a private seller in carsales.com.au

A de-registration certificate I saw listed the japanese owner as "traffic co, ltd"

and if you google them up you will find that their japanese page (cached by google) USED to say (in english) that

they sell accident damaged vehicles. It no longer says that. I've no idea if that was a source for one,

some or most of his cars but it was a red flag to me. Probably an ok place to buy a cheap Delica, but with all the evos

s15s and gtr's I'd start from the assumption that the miles are unknown and the car has possibly been repaired

from a hopefully minor shunt. If you can get anything on the japanese side in the way of

paperwork like the original auction rating, odo declarations, log books and what not then you're lucky .. as has been

said in this topic buyer beware. Don't just get the car inspected (if you can find a shop within his mile limit) but ask

them to look for wear consistent with a rolled back odo and negotiate accordingly.

on the plus side I thought Jimmy was a bit of a character, and he did refund my deposit (thanks mate!). I figure

he won't care that this stuff is public as my guess is most of his customers are the "ready fire aim" type and by

the time they read this it'll be too late and they probably won't care anyway. For those that do I think getting

a car thru j-spec or IMG is a safer choice.

Ouch.... Sighh too late now.. Im stuck with it... err... Well at least i drove it the whole day and everything seem ok. knew i shoulda asked u guys before making a choice... well if this car goes down hill ..... He has a site www.topmotorimports.com all his cars "looks" nice but if u look closely to the car when ur there ull see a few dents here and there... o well hope all good..

hey if you like the car you like the car .. that is all that matters! it certainly looks very clean.

A more risky dealer is more like a lottery that is all.

    • Back in January, I noticed my car felt noticeably weak. I had the injectors cleaned, which seemed to solve the problem -- until now. Recently, the car suddenly lost power again while driving. Suspecting the injectors, I brought it to the mechanic. He recommended replacing them entirely, saying the current ones were getting unreliable and fiddly to work with. I could not find a direct replacement for my current injectors. The closest match I found were 440cc injectors. This led me to look into the possibility of upgrading -- and of course, that would mean remapping the ECU. From my research I found: The OEM Part numbers are 16600-72L20 and 16600-72L21 Both the RB20DE and RB20DET use the same 270cc injectors. There are much better options out there over the old OEM injectors. Nistune could be a viable tuning option. While the RB20DE isn’t explicitly listed on their site, the ECU is essentially the same as the GTS-T version - just with a different map. The ECU code on mine is listed as supported. One concern is finding a tuner who works with Nistune. Aftermarket ECU like Haltech and Link, but this would be the most expensive choice (and possibly overkill for a mostly stock RB20DE) I admit that I am very new to the tuning scene and would appreciate any insight or recommendations regarding this.   These are some SAU links where I got some of my information from for reference: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/380324-rb20de-injectors/ https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/477396-factory-270cc-injectors/
    • The inspectors are not forensic by any means but if you forge your documents and/or badgings on vehicle parts and are found out, the consequences are just far bigger than if you just run illegal parts. And their job quite literally is to cross reference what parts you got installed and what your papers say you got. Something as silly as your suspension being 1mm too low will fail you. Nonetheless I asked if someone knew the damn pipe and I certainly did not ask for smartassery or underhanded comments, no idea why you need to be told this. Great way to waste both our time.
    • As useful as you explaining what forgery is... But then again, I wasn't aware your inspectors were also forensic experts and inspect nameplates on each component to confirm everything is original. They must inspect roughly 3 cars a year at that rate. You're right though, my comment doesn't help you in anyway, so I'll go talk to my wall now. Cheers.
    • Say that to the guy that is going to fail your inspection or tow your car for illegal exhaust modifications. If you have anything else useful to say, please go tell your wall.
