Hey guys,

Just newly registered to these forums, as i've got a bit of interest in purchasing a cheaper, second hand car for my first car, as opposed to my initial thoughts of purchasing a turbo diesel (for fuel economy reasons).

I see that some people get between 250KM/tank to 450KM/tank on these forums. Stats such as the 250KM/tank scare me heh, as that's horrible fuel economy. 450KM/tank seems much better.

However, i do plan on purchasing a skyline, and it will likely already have a turbo in it, but since im going to be on my P's and it's illegal for turbos now, i'm wondering if i can just simply unbolt the turbo? (Keep in mind i am fairly noob, hence the question - im unsure). If i do this, will it increase my fuel economy, as compared to having a turbo?

Any other comments on why i shouldnt unmount the turbo? I dont really have a choice, but is there any negative side affects of doign this, other than losing performance?

Cheers

you should get 400-450kms on a non turbo depending on how you drive it. I have an r34 n/a and i get 450ish without thrashing it too much.

as for the bolt on turbo...yes its possible but its cheaper to just buy a turbo car. also, the amount of boost youll be able to run on a once non-turbo car will be restricted due to low compression pistons, (someone please confirm...) unless you wnna change those too.
