Hello Hello

Im looking at hiring a 1.5ton (or equiv) Van or 3ton truck to move a few furniture items this Sat. I'd prefer a van though as its generally cheeper...

I've tried Europecar, Thirfty, and Budget and got their prices.

My question is, does anyone know of any other places maybe that are not franchised which would be able to hire out for a cheap price???

Preferably Northern subs, but will be picking items up from Noble Park....

EDIT:

Orrrr, if anyone has one that is willing to lend it out to me for a day i will be more than happy to pay for it*.

there is a lil van hire place on north rd in between clayton rd and huntingdale rd bridge in huntingdale. its called lloyds rent a van, they have ford vans there for hire. i think wen we hired one wen i moved it was 60 bucks for the day.

speak to mini movers

they are pretty cheap and might just be easier to use them - find out a cost

If he thinks budget etc are a little pricy then mini movers are out of the question. I work for a removalist company and on a Saturday we charge $119 an hour with time starting when we leave our depot and finishing when we return.

We are cheaper than mini movers.

Budget and Thrifty were around the $140-$160 mark (cant remember exactly) just for the van on a Saturday which is pretty expensive imo. I also tried AVIS who weren't any good either...

I ended up booking Europecar; got a 3ton truck for $87 and an extra $20 for insurance. Gonna be using it on Sunday to clear out the furniture of my partner's father who passed away on Sunday fighting lung cancer.

And just for a lil quick tip for anyone reading this in the future, even though you pay $20 for insurance you still have to pay the excess ($550 in this case) in the event of an accident and that's regardless of whether ur at fault or not!!! :)

Thanks guys for ur replies....

$87.00 is a good price.

But read the fine print as it does not cover damage to the Pantec (the box on the back).

Beware of bridges and the most common is wiping out trees when pulling over along with taking out power/phone lines backing up a driveway. Look up!!

dam thats expensive for a van, im glad i work for a transport company, i can use anything from a 1ton hi ace to a semi for the price of fuel, the down side is who do you think my mates call when ever they need some thing moved  i even had a mate want me to get an 8ton rigid, help him load it chock full of furntiture and then take it to ballarat and unload it, i got sick very quickly.

    • So, we now have a straight and clean boot lid inbound and the car goes in for paint, again, on Wednesday, and will be ready on Friday, all ready to get cams and stuff on Monday  And by straight and clean.....I mean a brand new OEM one that cost..... $1300....馃槳 Sadly there's no clean undamaged used soft top version available, plenty for the power retractable hard top versions though, which is arse and makes Mark have the sads I could have waited longer, until a NC sort top boot lid eventually turned up, but I'm sick of waiting and said fark it and made it rain cash, meh In other naturally aspirated news, one of the guys at work brought in his old Corola which had a 4AGE in it, really nice clean car with lots of mods, including ITB's, man that things induction noise sounds sick with all of the dorts that makes you smile......maybe the NC needs ITB's, yeah, basically for the noise they make, but they're pretty expensive, but, they sound so damn good I may bring this up when I drop the car up on Monday, and by may, I mean I will馃ぃ馃馃お馃ぃ
