wheels schmeels!! lol

nah, you gotta do what ya gotta do! :(

Really, the only wall to look out for is pit wall. It starts just after the last turn on the main straight.

Its most likely the most safe driver friendly track in Oz with the lack of walls

meh...

my babe aint scared of no walls anyway...

dont think ill have a helluva lot done to my car by the 21st...might not even get the fresh pair of brake pads on....ill see how it goes anyway!

your dead right...I have seen people come off in a big way usually at the hairpin and at the end of the main straight...but at all times the car spun and slid onto grass until it stopped on its own- miles away from anything at all..its probably the only track I would ever go on. Everytime I have been to oran park however somebody without fail ends up wiping out the side of their car usually on that section just before the main straight...Wakefield is really one of the best tracks around

ahh good to hear.

my dad pays for rego...insurance....damn he even paid for my car. (never bet against nsw in state of origin)

if i crashed.

i wouldnt go back home.

There was a monaro who lost it at that corner :) Crashed straight into the wall when he over corrected..

think i was a couple of seconds behind him (didnt see it happen), till i reached the last turn to the straight.. felt sorry for him!!

Hope his car is alright..

^^ didnt mean to scare the newbies here.. Its perfectly safe!!

I think he was really pushing it tho..

in NO way was i shit stirring. i commented and asked questions on things i would've liked answers to. i'll admit that i didnt have any intention on attending the next track day but after the questions were answered and explained it made sense and i made that clear. i then changed my mind about attending an SAU track day after the differences of the two track days were noted.

as i said, my car is nearing completion and i'm looking to hit the track soon. my posts were actually ON TOPIC. the below posts were the ones who initially made it off topic which dragged me into it so if you were going to hand out a warning for being off topic then i'd hand one out to Nick (sorry Nick lol) and yourself.

Yeah, I guess that's fair enough Joe - it gives you something to aim for if you have others to judge yourself against, and I suppose it's always nice to have bragging rights when you do a better time than them.

Hmmm, you've stated that you still don't want to become a member, but do you have any suggestions of what we should be doing to bring more people (including maybe yourself) in? It'd be good to hear some constructive criticism instead of you just saying "the way you guys are going about it is crap..."

Since the race car can't be there for the day, I am happy to help out with instructing for anyone who would like some tips

Security - I reckon you are a typical keyboard warrior internet talker - I've never seen you at any track day in the 4 years you have been on these forums. I know you won't prove me wrong by turning up, you will just keep stirring shit in threads.

The whole idea of this track day is to get new people on the track and see how much fun, and how safe it is when you do it properly. Looking forward to seeing some new faces :)

Joe for president.

no offence to monaro guy but turn 12 is at least 50-80m from the nearest corner. pretty easy to put your foot on the brake by then....

Exactly.

The pit wall is so far away from the exit of a hairpin corner that the only way you could hit it is if your ego far exceeds your skill, and you think you can drive out of a slide you clearly can't. I can't see how any sensible person could hit it unless they're in a massively overpowered car and its raining.

The newbies have very little to worry about at Wakefield. The only thing you really need to be aware of, from a layout safety aspect, is to try and make sure the car is travelling straight if you know you are going to come off. Coming off sideways isn't a guarantee of issues, but you'd rather not if you can help it.

Yes that car looked like it was worked, had semi slicks etc etc.. was pretty damn quick.. Happened later on in the day, so before then he had no problems..

It was just body damage i think.. This was last year, so was a while ago..

Yes but when you put your foot down when you are coming onto the straight, there is a chance of your rear sliding sideways.. Plus if you having a lot of power dont see why you cant loose it at that corner..

Seemed like he lost it, overcorrected and hit the wall..

Look if you really pushing you car, then i dont see why you cant spin off at any corner..

hey Larry,

i met ya at the last KK's meet...

if you're going down to wakefield...wnna cruise it down together in the morning?

maybe, i dunno coz i need new brakes i think mine are warped. i got all that wheel balancing and alignment stuff and steering still shakes..

hey guys, my caster bushes are cracked and the silicone had leaked out...will this affect me at the track day?

im trying to get the car working well before i hit the track...

shanil - you should get them fixed, about $100 to replace them with standard style, or maybe $150 for adjustable ones.

mes....we will have plenty of people who can help out on the day, don't be shy :ermm:

    • I'm seeing torque specs all over the place for the OUTER tie rod, but none for the INNER tie rod, where it connects to the steering rack. Even in videos, people are just tightening em up as much as they can with a wrench and that's it. Anything tightened down without torque makes me nervous. Anyone know what the spec is for it?
    • Hope you had a great time here in our tiny country.   The JDM scene we have here is quite small, it's mostly BMW, Volkswagen with burble tunes haha. But the few JDM cars we do have in the scene are pretty nice. Some of my friends drive cool s14's too. Both built engines, red one makes abt 500, blue one abt 400 i think?
    • Ye good idea , would have never thought of something like that. Might aswell do it to every pulley and the balancer while I’m there
    • Use an LS1 or similar, via kit like Frenchy's. But.... It's probably not the alternator. It sounds like belt squeal, which would be because the pulleys are glazed. Rub every groove on the pulleys with 120 grit paper. Report back. Oh, and new belts afterwards too. The old new ones will be shitted up already.
    • Hello all I have 2 r34 sedans , one turbo one na, only recently aquired the na 34.  Man what is with these things.... My turbo 34 started sounding like a super charger, it was screaming at anything above 4000rpm , I took the alternator apart and replaced the front bearing which is the only one I think you can access and it did not fix the issue so presumably the bearing in the rear of the alternator is gone. ( diagnosed it was the alternator by taking off the aux belts one by one to figure out which pulley or bearing it was )  My friend gave me one he had lying around, Installed it , it did not squeal for maybe 500kms and now its started to squeal again briefly on startup  Recently got an na r34 and I replaced the timing belt, water pump + all the auxillirary belts. Runs amazing but it suddenly developed the same squeaking problem but significantly worse, Ive had my neighbour come down screaming at me because it was waking her up everytime I moved the car. It takes a good 2 minutes before it quietens down.  Im yet to diagnose where its coming from but im fairly sure its coming from the alternator aswell. My question isnt about how to fix it but rather where can you get a new alternator for an rb25 neo??? Ive searched everywhere but I havent been able to find a direct fit oem type replacement thats not genuine. All the automotive stores sell an oex one - BXA035 - which I picked up for cheap through a friend with staff discount , got it home only to find the connector is completelty different.... As far as im aware bxa035 is for rb20/30's and after a bit of figuring out the bxa035 has an ev14 type connector, which is tiny compared to the rb25 connector. I actually had an ev14 connector lying around which I was considering just replacing the bigger plug with to get the alternator working but the bxa035 is rated for 70amp vs the rb25 alternators are 90amp ( or so ive been told ? ) That paired along with the fact im about to install an amp + sub in the back and I have the stock sized small battery Im not sure itll do the job unless anyone has another opinion?  I know and have seen all the websites selling the ls1 alternator conversion kit but I am not going down that route, nor do I have the money to. Hopefully I can figure out how to get 2 brand new alternators for both cars. I would buy second hand which there seems to be many of but considering how common this seems to be im sure If I installed a second hand one it would start squealing in no time  Or even better if anyone knows how to fix the issue directly with the alternator itself... Any input appreciated Thank you     Link for bxa035 connector picture
