naw.. sorry mate.. a nicely worked 180sx will kain your ass :) Sure he hasn't got the boost upped though?

They're only 1200kg or so.. that 200kg or so makes a big difference.

I've had a play with a few on the street... its always good fun. Standard the skyline is of course quicker, but generally put the same mods on an SR20DET powered s13 (either Silvia or 180sx) and the S13 will be fair bit quicker.

One of the reasons i am soon going to be selling my Skyline and getting one of them myself - so much cheaper and you can get similar power. Ok, sure they look cheaper, might look bit 80's style, maybe less reliable, blah, blah but don't care :)

maybe its your driving.... (hehe)

Your tyres, suspension, or a few other things....

I know most S13's have rock hard suspension, plus they have the 4:11 diff ratios which is always nice.....

I dont think i'd worry too much about losing to silvias etc....

Different car. r33's are much more refined, and a better driving car all round.

If your really worried about losing, stick a nice front mount intercooler on, and you will be winning easily....

If you're worried about your car, go get a dyno run done. That will show you if you're not making full power, or if there's any problems with the way it's making the power. Should cost between 60-100 bucks.

Stock, you should make between 140-150rwkw or 180-200rwhp.

I've got a full exhaust, podfilter, nothing else, and I got 149.2rwkw on the last run. (.2 is important)

all depends. its hard to compare any sr20det powered vehicle to a skyline. though i have to say when i was driving a s14a 200sx with 12psi filter + 3inch tbo back exhaust, i never lost to a skyline that was running standard turbo + computer. I have seen skylines with similar mods to 180sx and 200sx and silvia and win in a race. Although i believe both cars with similar mods, it would come down to the better driver and the car with better wheel and suspension set up. This is talking about a race from a standing start.

Depends whether u want full speed or more style and comfort.

i reckon they have do have street racer style with few visual improvements. To me a car can look ugly as shit, but if u know its gonna rip u then u have respect :)

all the r33 gts-t vs sr20det silvia s13/s14/s15 with similar mods that i have seen race have resulted in the sr powerd silvia kicking gts-t butt, reason the silvia i belive is a purpose built sports car where as a gts-t has a 4dr sedan/family car heritage!!!! so is a comodore ss equivalent souped up family car! GTR on the other hand is a supa car thats y they suspect that the r35 GTR i gonna distance it self from the skyline family.

its all been said before, 33 is a nicer car than a 180 all round.

i had 200rwkw (fmic, ecu, zorst boost etc) and ran a mates 180 with boost zorst, FMIC, NO ECU and the thing just leaped off the line like a frog everytime, about a car length ahead of me EVERY time! once rolling it was just about dead even, with me possibly just catching him if the road were long enough. Other silvias have surprised me with only minimal mods also.

As mentioned i think its the extra weight we carry that prevents really good launches. And yes, with the same mods the s13 will run away!

Sumfatchin, i hear you, i wouldnt swap!

i raced plenty of sr20s powered silvia and 180sx in my r33 gtst and i've yet seen one come close, yeah it all how u put the power to the ground and how hard ur want to cane them.

    • The r34 gearbox is like $3400/3700 landed from Japan sometime last year.   Contact jessestreeter.com for info and quotes. From memory the navara gearbox needs input shaft machined down as I looked into a while back and there's a thread somewhere here from 2018-2021 about it. Depends on what your doing with the car maybe worth the dollars to go cd009 or a 8hp50/70.
    • VCAM doesn't really increase peak power, it just widens the powerband. So if you were giving up power with adjustable cam gears to get better low-end response yes in theory it "increases power" but otherwise not really. Stroker kit might put you in a more efficient region of the compressor map which will get you more power but at say 7000 rpm I'm not sure that much will change. The original HKS GT2530, -5s, and GTX2860R gen 2 are all roughly the same kind of turbo. If you want 600 horsepower those are the turbos you need. So 500 whp. Just expect to spend some quality time trying to figure out intake/exhaust piping. The "twin turbo" pipe is an obvious place to start. Make sure the actuator preload and all of that fun boring stuff is set up correctly. Throw a VCAM step 2 at it if you want good response, 2.8L stroker too. If you're not actually wedded to 500 whp all the time you can barely get there with -7s or Nismo R3 turbos, you just have to run E85 or race gas and run them hard:
    • It's used in the GT-R, GTST/GTT, and Z32 VG30 NA + TT versions. Nissan still makes them new, they're not cheap but they're not expensive either. Personally I would just get something direct-fit and be done with it but I'm not that handy at fabrication.
    • FS5R30A the nav box isn’t it? I did think about those. Any issues? I wondered if the bell housing off an rb30 patrol would work as they are the same gearbox but with a transfer I believe.
