Hey all,

I'm about to change the clutch for the first time in a R33 gtst and am just curious if you need to support the engine at all when dropping out the bell housing or will the engine mounts cope with no gearbox attached?

Cheers

The engine will rotate backwards on the engine mounts. The firewall will stop it rotating too far. You will probably be advised to disconnect the top radiator hose.

Could doing this potentially cause damage? Or is this an acceptable method? I do have access to a loading dock that has an over head chain block I could use to support if need be...But if i can get away with doing this in my garage would be preffered (this loading dock is really narrow where as my garage at home has so much more space to work with).

the whole radiator will probably be out of the car anyway as im doing a 100k service atm too.

Cheers
