As the title says we have enougth to get a banner printed up with dimentions 2m x 1m. We can have as many colours as we want what ever design, BUT... The image MUST! be very high quality to print out at that size.

So far the most liked design is the Black R34 in the past thread.

Now is the time for people to come up with any alternative designs, and hopefully much larger files.

I'm willing to say the best design (as voted by us) that we get by the end of the month wins and will then be printed, what say you?

I think 2m x 1m is too small - 3x1 would be better if we want it to show up at shows & things and shouldn't cost much more.

Agreed, time to narrow down on design and if we decide to raise more funds, at least we can work out our target and aim for it.

I also like the black one, but would like to see what it would look like with blue fonts instead of red (keeping the tail lights red of course) for comparison - I might still go back to red for final decision, but would like a look - an extra colour will add extra to the cost as well, but not excessive.

I like the Black R34, but I urge caution settling on one model [unless it is the very first ever model, but in the case of the ACT it is not relevant].

The banner needs to be very generic, you don't want to loose or disenfranchise owners of other models, remember this may be your only 'calling card' at shows etc and the general joe bogg will believe everything he reads [unless it involves money]. Not everyone that walks past the banner is going to enquire about its significance.

And I'd hold out for a 3 x 1, the banner needs presence, you don't want to look amatuerish with a small postage stamp one.

I wonder if you might be better off with a shot or caricature of a Bathurst winning R32??? in a ACT setting {it pains me to say that, I'm a R33 man}. Once again one model, but one the public remember maybe??

Great ideas.

I'll get a price on a 3 x 1 meter, but likely we won't have enougth for it.

I like the group shot from last years photo session, or how about we get a 32 33 and 34 together, and take some pics for the banner? (group shot)

Or post a request for some designs in the Photography section here. So good photographers and photoshoppers in there.

  • 1 month later...

Things seem to be slowing down with the designs

So here's where we are up to

We have $279 in my kitty + what ever michelle has at her place

It costs $260+gst for a 2*1meter banner or $340+gst for a 3*1 meter.

If Michelle still has the the $30-$40 I think she has (could be wrong) I will throw in the rest and organise to get the #81 meter one done.

BUT.... I need an agreed design that is HUGE. It can be any colour or as detailed as we want it, but it must be MB's in file size.

  • 4 weeks later...

We could look at this as well (additional to the banner)

Would need to check the quality Retractable Banner

Okay, so even tho the link is accurate, it wont work hmmm then try searching Item number: 250277717907, would probably go the larger sizes too - I noticed they also do banners.

If we can't come to some sort of conclusion as to what sort of picture can be used, then I suppose we could head out one more time for another photoshoot?

Maybe around sunset time? We haven't tried that yet.

Benjamin offices car park (amongst / underneath the concrete buildings), around twilight aint too bad either, theres overhead lighting, not sure if security would like it though, still it has potential. Also spotted one or two nices places to take some pics on the cruise to bungendore, ie abandoned railways stations, and other subject matter that looked interesting.

Here's my contribution... :P

I can do the same with any model of Skyline, I just liked the look of this one.

P.S. I had to save this as a JPEG to post it, the original is much higher quality.

That is exactly what I was thinking about. Probably with the new GTR in the foreground.

Say maybe have a small rear profile of an R30, R31, R32, R33, R34, V35, V36, R35 under the SAU on the left (as per Donnan's original idea)

It would be extemely hard to get a photo of all the Skyline models side by side, damn near impossible actually... I know that its possible to photoshop all of them together but it would take a fair bit of time and effort and I think it would look far to crowded and busy.

I think just having one car on it has more visual impact, perhaps we should vote on the most popular model?

I agree one car having the major visual impact, and the fact it has taken so long to get the banner to where it is, I think the R35 might be old by the time it's printed :-) If we print a R32 which would probably be a very liked car, it makes the banner/club look very dated already.

What I was saying about the rear ends of the skylines, was to have a small picture one under each other, of the rear of the car (The signature skyline feature - twin taillights). Have a look at the quick mock up and think the R32 is a picture of a r32 rear end.

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
