I was reading on g35driver that some of the cars have been experiencing excessive oil consumption leading to a few blown motors. Seems to be mainly with the RevUp motors? I couldnt find much more info than this as most G35s in the US are new and just go back under warranty.

My question is then what models are mainly affected? I am getting an 05 auto so not sure if this comes with the RevUp motor?

Cheers.

i have yet to hear from anyone with a V35 that experiences this oil consumption problem

the original poster of that thread is a person with teriible anxiety so taking what he has said isn't a great resource at all, in fact i don't respond to any of his threads because its frustrating to hear his rubbish!

remember that the yanks on g35driver are more likely to make a fuss to get things through warranty.

it may be that the V35s also suffer this problem or it may be that they don't. we dont know as yet. it may be a number of factors that contribute to any potential problem

the only salvage is that at worse case scenario if you need a new engine or a rebuild, then there are more than enough facilities and parts to do so locally. this is one of the things to risk with buying animport with no warranty.

so far there are over 50 2003/2004 coupe owners on here with NO problems at all in regards to engines

The 2003 350Zs reputedly had an oil consumption issue. Since the engines are near identical, aside from the plastic cover and AFM-to-throttle-body intake tract, I would assume they'd earn a similar reputation.

I haven't heard of anything specifically about V35s, though, and the 350Z oil consumption issue hasn't affected that many owners I know.

its yellow i think

if you stand at the front of the engine bay, its just to the right of the oil cap and has a convoluted path to the sump

Thanks, thats the one I was refering to. Any idea where the auto transmission dipstick is or whether one exists?

i assume the 350z engine was assembled in australia? versus V35 engine assembled in japan?

I'm pretty sure the 350Z is fully imported.

Nissan Australia doesn't have any manufacturing facilities after they stopped making the Pulsar down here, so I'm not sure where they'd assemble anything.

Its probable that Australia's cars are on a custom run from a Japanese factory to ensure they comply with our ADRs so perhaps its only our batch that suffers it. I know the 350Z's intake pipe has a resonator where the US one doesn't, and the ECU tune is probably different for our ADRs.
