I Have obtained a lot of useful information of these forums in the past and Instead of posting little one of questions about my restore, I thought I would post up one big post and if anyone has any answers or advice for me I will be all ears!

I purchased a 1990 R32 GTR about 8 months ago my second skyline: and for the last 4 months or so have had it being stripped down at a mates panel shop; having all rust cut out, dents and blemishes fixed and ready for paint! Everything is beeing painted except engine bay, Im tossing up weather or not to paint inside the boot, anybody prepped this area before and level of difficulty?

The passenger side rear quarter panel has rusted out pretty bad and I would ideally like to replace however I have been looking for one for a good 3 months now with no avail (have found a couple but would need to take half cuts etc at a cost) One option was to order a new one for around $800 I think? We are going to have a go at welding a piece in and see how it turns out either way its going to be a lot of work! Has anyone done something similar/experiences etc?

Have been reading the forums and some indepth DIY prep guides and now have a basic understanding of whats needed in prepping car so am taking the next week off to get the car as straight and smooth as possible!

Ive got some new bits that will need to be prepped aswell!

GARAGE SAURUS FRONT LIP

NISMO N1 STYLE 1 PIECE SIDE SKIRTS

TRUST STYLE REAR PODS

R34 GTR style Grille

Nismo N1 Intercooler Vents

With the Nismo style N1 Intercooler Vents - there are no clips or anyway of attaching these to the front bar slots, any ideas on how people have attached theres, glue clips etc?

Moulds/seals etc:

I had front and rear windows removed and unfortunately they both broke (Still in need of a Front Window if anyone has one for sale or knows where I might find one?) The seals I think will need to be replaced have people used generic style seals or ordered nissan originals? I know the original ones are quite expensive and come in kits, but have heard you can use commodore seals or simply get windscreen mob to make some up?

I am also after nissan passenger side door mould (soft ones that commonly tear), aswell as both inner door moulds, Is there a nissan spares or a stocker of these parts in Perth or is it a nissan direct job?

The Rims Im hoping to have polished up or painted as they are peeling fairly bad! From what Ive read Briffa engineering is the place to go?

Will probably have the rims done before painting the vehicle; so if anyone has an old set of rims and tyres that would fit (R33 GTR Brembos on front) that they would be interested in lending us for a week or so in exchange for a cartoon of choice let us know? ( I do have an old set of 33 GTS-t stockies but I dont think they will fit with the brembos)

If anyone has any ideas or personal experiences to share I would greatly appreciate it as this is the first car Ive actually stripped down and I want to have it prepped perfectly!

Thanks,

Dan

Alot of body parts are common between the 32 GTR & the 32 GTST coupe including windows, so check out ppl wrecking these as they tend to get killed more often than GTRs(and GTST parts don't have "GTR tax").

My back window(GTST rear) has a generic window seal($30), which looks ok, it bugs me, but others say it looks better than factory($600+).

I think the GTST window lacks the antennae, but if you don't listen to radio who cares?

Wait until you start looking at restoring the interior, thats great fun :D

I ended up getting my rear window from a GTST and yeh thankfully cut the great GTR tax out!

From memory your right with the atennae on the GTST, alternative would be those roof mount ones but yeh who needs a radio - to be honest my GTR doesnt have a stereo and Im seriously considering leaving it that way!

Gtst have the antenna too, after market screens dont have the antenna

i used genuine window seals first time round and regretted it from day one

they cost me shitloads and looked like shit cause they didnt sit right

so last time i pulled the screen out i got the dude to use universal rubbers.

looks great and didnt cost me shit
