buy a 33gts-t. build that. easiest/cheapest option. if you have the desire to do it, and deep pockets, go for it!

Give Mark Tilbrook at Tilbrook auto and dyno a call, he will tell you straight up what can and cant be done, and how much it is likely to cost. they did my conversion, and it is awsome, but like Damo said, I hope you have deep pockets, cos doing a proper job wont be cheap.

lol your a walking tilbrook advertisment Chad :D

^^^ then why didnt you get him to tune it

i say ring boostworx and see who gives the better quote

cos tilbrook is a builder not a tuner, if somone can do something better than he can he will let them. he just does what he knows he is best at, and thats building cars. leave the other stuff up 2 the pro's in that field.

if your local to pooraka give fours n more a call, they did the conversion and tuning on my car and it hasnt missed a beat in almost a year of drifting, they do awesome work and are top blokes. 82602011 is their number. Let them know luke with the r31 reccomended you.

then why have a dyno and on your sticker im sure it says tilbrooks auto and dyno tuners something like that

but i agree if some one does a better job then yeah go there

the business is called Tilbrook Auto & Dyno, and there dyno gets way more use for diognostics and checking for safe air fuel ratios, than it does for tuning, and they use Martin Donnin for the tuning, who is one of the best in Australia. Just look at their DA car and you will see how good there work is, but hey, thats just my opinion.

ah yeah wasn't sure if they had tuners in there name also

his is 4wd so R33 front cut is more effort involved to get the AWD sump on the 33 block its doable but might as well get a stagea

hey man.. do you know someone with the parts? unless you do, i don't really see the point. 33 front cut would basically be the same price and have all of the bits you'd need..

    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
