Speaking of Izakaya,

Is anyone on the board interested in going in with me on one?

I am fully keen on opening an Izakaya either in melbourne or adelaide.

Im dead serious.

No probs on the link M3..as for the iza I reckon you`d go broke off the nomi/tabi hodais..I know when I go I drink a bucketload.. Aussies at home would think all their xmas`s came at once..You`d be packed for sure...you`d do a roaring trade with the breweries

I like those words...packed, roaring trade...

i reckon an izakaya would be a winner for sure but the thing is, we can get properly wasted in an izakaya here and then pop on a train...

In oz, well,... public transport doesnt even come close so i guess the cabbies would benefit as well.

Im serious about this by the way.

all you can eat shabu-shabu in tokyo. this place is pretty expensive, but it's all you can eat for 1 or 2 hours (i forget which) and for an extran 3,000yen you can get all you can drink long necks too (it's cheaper if you go for all you can drink by the glass). they don't know what hit them when we are there and hungry. we can eat and drink a LOT. as tempting as it is to go for the cheeper yankee beef, pay up the extra and get the prime japanese beef.

sorry the plates are mostly empty! I was so hungry I forgot to snap pics whilst there was still food there. :P

you are right, I do love japan mate. ;) but I love australia too. to be honest I guess I just don't have the cojones to pack it all in and take the leap. one day. :) till then I will keep studying, and keep coming to terrorise you nihon-jin on a regular basis. ;)

awww, aint that sweet.

Dont worry amigo, we'll be here to greet you with open arms and empty glasses - coz you know what you gotta do next time youre in town, lol. Unless we're on teh wangan, that is...

..although, i wouldnt consider me a 日本人 just yet...

Oh god that is mouth watering. Wagyu?

yeah, judging by the fat content I'd say it's wagyu.

here's a few more pics:

different shabu-shabu pic.

fugu karage. for those that don't know fugu is a type of poisonous blow fish and is quite tasty. however if not cut correctly you will be eating a fatal poison. you can get fugu sashimi and lots of places have fugu soup too. this is fugu karage. very tasty. with the fugu sashimi sometimes they leave just a small bit of poison on it and it makes your lips go numb!

some better yaki-niku pics. you can see the meat on the right of the first pic, and on the left of the second pic some chicken etc. looove yaki-niku.

not really food, but still tastey, and still japanese. this is 2 glasses of asahi at the asahi headquarters in asakusa, tokyo.

haha, yeah thanks to the simpsons everyone knows what fugu is!

I really want to try naked sushi. anyone here done it? my friend was going to take me last time but he ended up being away when I was available to go. it should be good.

oh dude, I hope that's on the fail list. :stupid: wagamama is about as far from real, good japanese food as you can get. I mean, they sell duck gyoza FFS!!! duck gyoza i tells ya.

oh, that's another for my 'likes' list. gyoza. very nice. hard to get good ones in aus though.

edit: just saw the second post, I need to take you to a real japanese restaurant. the crap they sell at wagamana is not real gyoza. it's a half baked 'fusion' restraurant chain started by english wankers who know FA about good japanese food. real gyoza will blow you away after the rubbish they sell.

ichi ban boshi?
