Hi Guys,

not exactly performance related (well some may think so!) but does anyone know where to buy sheets of carbon fibre, preferably in sydney?

As far as i know it is applied with heat (ie. hairdryer or similar) is this true?

Thanks

Kent

if your going carbon for anything, for weight dont use fibreglass as the strauctral crap, use kevlar, that stuff is soo strong and light.. its not funny...

but its bloody expensive

it isn't for structural work, basically just covering a front skirt (to cover the many scrapes etc.. and to make it look a little better)

Can the real carbon fibre mats be applied over the top of plastic, will i need to rough the plastic up a bit for it to bond with?

what does kevlar look like anyway?

kevlar looks like.. erm.. kevlar... umm.. ok.. ya know how with carbon you have the checkered effect? with like a grey and a black...

well kevlar appear like usually the black and a greenish yellow chequered, and if you think it will look gay, its un mistakable for kevlar... its the stuff they put in bullet proof jackets.. so yeah..

i have kevlar reinforced ice hockey skates, and i have had them for 5yrs.. and they are still going strong.. werent cheap tho

Might be worth checking out.

He did a carbon panel for Merlis car..... looks fantastic.

Hey boxcar kevlar is the type of material it is actually wooven different to carbon fibre, you can get carbon fibre to be yellow and black the clour all depends on the type of reseign you use if you use epoxy the strongest it is yellow so it turns the white of the matting to a yellow,if you use regular fiberglass reseign it is bluey grey but pretty clear that why the carbon fibre looks grey.

no tryin to talk down to you just thought i could help out!!!:)
