Guys and Gals, this is the first SAUWA Timed Race event. It will be held at the AHG driving centre on Grogan Road near the International Airport. It will consist of 5 runs per driver. 2 runs on a single skid pan, and 3 runs on the double skid pan. There are several Autokhana type course available however we wont know which courses we are doing until we get there on the day.

Our Hope is that we can generate as much interest as possible from our Members and hopefully turn it into a 3 round semi-championship...not necassarily all at AHG. (different venues are currently being looked at.)

Just a quick word of warning though, this is a race event. The whole idea is to come along, have some fun and post a few good lap times. AHG wont tolerate any blatant hooning or recklessness, so if your planning to come along and throw a few deliberate skids and the like, the clerk of course will end your day very quickly. We would prefer not to have to have these sorts of punishments issued to any of the SAUWA members or entrants. So please, drive responsibly and with in the spirit of the event.

If you would like to enter the event, I will take bookings only via PM!!! If you dont PM me, your booking will not be taken! Once you are booked as an entrant, payment is to be made with 7 days to me. I will supply you the details for EFT payments upon receiving your PM. If you are not able to do EFT, please let me know so we can sort other arrangements. If your payment is not received and no further correspondense has been made, your booking will cancelled. Sorry to be so hard and strict on this but for organisation of the event, this will make it easier. I will not chase people up for reminders of payments.

Please feel free to ask me any questions on this thread...but DO NOT whore the thread! All whore posts will be deleted.

Cheers

Brad

ZOMG!

I am in!!!!

Please?

Carn, you can't deny Teh Fury can ya?

*edit*

The ASAA form needs to be signed by a club official who is known to the ASAA. Who do we use for that?

Guys, committing to the event is ok, but keep in mind in a few weeks i will be opening the event up to the public. I cant wait for too long to secure numbers.

Brendan, AASA license is good for racing at AHG and some Speeddome (midvale) events. If you want to get a comp license and do more events like wanneroo, speed series etc then CAMS is your better option. Dont quote me on this, but i think AASA is about $55 and CAMS is $88 (you will need to be a member of a cams affiliated club to get this.). Both for a year.

Guys, in reference to some early questions i am being PM'd,

As long as you are an SAUWA member, you can race what you have (pulsar, Honda etc)

In a few weeks i will be opening the event up to the public to get the numbers. I know for a fact there are 10+ V8 guys wanting to get in on this so once opened, it will fill quickly.

Only SAUWA members are able to receiving any prizes etc (if any secured) for results.

Jonn, your on the list mate.

Guys just another thing i need from you guys when you pm me your entry, i will need your surname to submit to AHG. I will be posting your user name, first name, and surname on the thread. If you dont want them on the public forum please let me know.

Gys ive done some homework on the AASA license.

All you need to do is fill in the application for CLUB RACING LICENSE.

The form can be found by going to www.australianautosportalliance.com

Then on the left hand side, click on FORMS & DOCUMENTS

Then click on CLUB RACING LICENSE FORM and download the application.

Fill the form in with all details required.

Towards the bottom of the form it asks for the name of a CLub/organsiation/person who is known to AASA to sign the form. THIS IS NOT COMPULSORY. Just leave it blank.

As for payments, i assume you would do it via a credit card. I have been told to write your c/c number on the bottom of the form and fax it back to them. If you dont want to do c/c and need other arrangments, unfortunately i cant help you with that. You will need to contact AASA direct and discuss the options with them.

I hope that helps and answers most of the question that have been asked so far.

p.s. guys ill take bookings once i have received a PM from you. I know it might be a pain in the ass but it has to be done that way. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    • My extinguisher mounted like this unscrewed a little (Maybe from the chair sliding forward) and dumped a bit of white on my mats. I'll need to get a more narrow one for future.
    • I totally couldn't do the whole kids taking up my life thing! 😮 I find it bad enough doing 45 hours in 4 days, and then fitting normal adulting life into the other 3 with no kids! As for my mates race cars, they're AMG C63 setup for production racing. The original is what has just been stripped and a brand new shell built. The original is then going away to have some panels straightened, then it will be put back together again. Then there's a third that will shortly head off to have a roll cage put in, then build it up too. And potentially a fourth to be built too... Oh, and he has two Renault Clio D class production cars, ha ha. And when he's not racing them in the Australians and QLD production championships, he's been racing one of Chaz Mostert's Lamborghini's in GT4. They just won GT4 at the 12 hour in the Lambo. We're pushing to finish the new AMG as it has its first round (and potentially its first shakedown/outing) in under w weeks for Round one of QPC, and that round is really the shakedown to make sure it's all good for the Bathurst 6 hour, which I'll be at too. Ha ha ha Working on my project is different to his, I slowly tinker and work ways to make things happen on a shoe string budget. Hes in a good position that he has a massive workshop full of parts and tools, ha ha. He also looks after me. When his air compressor died, he just needed it working, so bought himself a new one and gave the old to me. Sand blaster unit too, and a 20t pressing. And pretty much all the shelving in my shed too as he upgraded all of his (the stuff he gave me is the expensive black Bunnings heavy duty stuff)!   I enjoy working on his stuff. No decision paralysis, and anything that's needed parts wise is just there. Plus, then I get to be hands on at the track in real racing, not just club day stuff.
    • I know which one I'd prefer to have in my garage, and which one I'd actually drive as intended
    • Yeah mate, no probs. Just swap the email addresses?
    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
