Hey guys.. found out finally I smashed the piston rings and put 3 massive scratches into number 5 cyclinder on my r33..just wondering is it worthwhile getting the thing bored out and re-sleeved or just rebuilding the whole lot.. the other cyclinders look fine...

also if anyone knows of a good place to get the work done (i've pulled the engine a part already) and an approximate price that would be awesome...

gtst...probably go a stock rebuild..things only putting out 190 at the moment and Im only lookin for 220 so the engine should be fine stock..my step bro is a mechanic so we are doing most the work at home..alternatively could I just buy a used bottom end??

Forgies are a waste of money mate in all honesty for 220rwkw.

$1400 for something you'll never use or need.

If your mate is a mechanic and knows what he is doing, grab a 2nd hand bottom end... check it out before you get it (obviously) and you should be right. Just grab some new generic ACL pistons or something cheaper like that, they aren't forged etc, so much cheaper

New bearings, rings, any machining etc.

Should be done with it for around the same cost if not a little bit more than what the forgies would be just on their own (and then you need to get the rest of the crap on top)
