LS1s are a great combo for a R32... just make sure you add a pair of huffers on the side

yea that's what i was thinking.. i know the ls1 has nice low down torque and would slide nice also but i'd love to go twin turbo ls1 but the kits are in excess of $10k... ill have all the time in the world as i'm losing my license for a while. what would be the approx cost of the ls1 build.. from an r32 NA auto + ls1 + 6spd + custom fabs for the mounts and such?

i got a gen3 with 6speed..

i had a r32...

so many workshops turned me down big name shops, cause they told me balance of car would be way out..

i had a budget of 20k as i already own the gen3, i no alot of stupid money but it was a project and i allowed at least 8k for just front end setup, and still alot of workshops turned me down..

i was very disapointed and it turned me off..

they all reckon the s15 or 14 silvia with the gen3 in it is so far off balance its a miracle it can drift the way it does..lol jelousy now i think about it....

do it man it would be an absolute street weapon, and with turn a whole freeway up in smoke at 120km's

yer but honestly i cant sit there an argue with a workshop owner and end up leaving my pride and joy in there hands, its like im forcing them to do something there jelous of..

kunts, but if your good on the tools and you do have the time, i say do it, but once you start to look into it, you cant spare any cash on the front end setup..

i cant find any pics of the silvia gen3, but it showed the whole front setup an fabrication, its like a work of art..

if only i had the time, i realy cant stay up till 12, 1 in the morning these days my day time job is to demanding, lol but f*k im thinking about it once again...

haha yea it's like that ay.. i work 7 days a week atm and it's a struggle!

I've just been watching vids and there a bloke called mikespeed with a blown ls1 s13 and it's farking nuts!!! but then i'd also love to just build a really solid rb and that would be easier.. ahh i dno what to do yet.

how will it effect the balance enough to matter... the weight difference is marginal at best (ls1 lighter than rb)

honestly i only started to research the project after i gave up with wanker workshop owners giving me the bullshit lines.. it got to a stage were i had to bring 6k cash in my hand to show the bastards i wasnt lieing..

but after a bit of research and talkin to a few guys it is possible and if the front end is done properly, you wont have to maintain the thing forever..

but either way big dollars but good results...

What are the costs for a similar setup when one has an ls1 with associated oil leaks, an r33t car, 4 stock 33t turb's working.. no piping work, exhuasts appropriate manifolds, gaskets, lines etc... management....

?

if you go to the trouble of getting an ls1 into a 33... you may aswell add the stock 33t turbs of the side... a pair of t3's should work nicely for a lower boost mod... internally stock ls1...

I know it's been done.... I would have preffered a savage na 91 ron monster 33 but for 10c more I could have something that eats more money...

seriously though... what costing involved? as a REAL project for someone good with thier hands... modest budget and space available for hte thing to sit there until it is ready for use?

    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist

    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
    • Yeeeppp, been following a lot of the testing on the latest Xona stuff and there are some mental results.  He also went over 1000hp @ 4 hubs on his Mainline with a XRE6364S (63mm) which was also well into the 20psi range before 4000rpm on a 2.5. Crazy stuff. Fwiw the XRE5964S is basically the modern equivalent of their old HTA3582 - would drive nicely enough on an RB25 or 26, but proven capable of a huge amount of power if you want to spicy with rpm tho even at sane boost levels will make stout numbers
