Looking to build an r32 ls1 project and have been informed most shops wouldn't do such a conversion by a fellow SAU member.. so please list some that you think would do the job and do it well and i will give them a ring.. (or post info if owner)

I would highly doubt it.

Have a chat to the engineers before trying to go about something like this...

But either way, i highly doubt it after chatting to engineers late last year. Id like to see you get it passed though... ring them and find out :domokun:

any workshop will do any work if you pay them enough, simple really

the key to this receipe is finding one who knows both

i would recommend an LS1 style workshop, as i would expect the skyline shell etc is fairly normal

We can do it, but not until end of september, booked out.

What transmission would you want to use? the biggest problem i can see (without looking at the car) would be headers.

It would be engineerable it would just cost $$$$$ and time.

tremec 6spd is the first choice... bit heavy though i'd probably have to do some researtch into that.

I'm suprised you see the headers being the major problem in the swap?

why so???They will use the emmision data from what ever the engine came from and do brake tests to make sure the brakes are up to scratch and thats pretty much it....i cant see a problem fitting any type of engine to any type of vehicle and have never had problems getting them certified

Recently though?

The Engineer i was talking too said he wont sign off on big power LS1s into little cars and so on these days, overpowered with too much risk associated, liability and what not. Nothing to do with emissions, last of the worry really.

Just going off what he was telling me, makes sense in some ways, a big LS1 in a 1000kg car is asking for trouble more so than when its in a 1700kg one!
