i was looking at a HPI Stainless Exhaust Manifold (low mount) for my R32 RB20 and was wondering if it does anything to my performace or sound of the engine??

or is this simply an autosalon mod

personally.... I dont like them...sure they look good, but they do not contain the heat in like a cast manifold will. Some say the more efficient design brings on boost earlier. yet others say that due to the manifold losing so much heat there is less of it their to aid in exhaust gas velocity...So who knows !... On a GTR they would be a waste of money ...but on a GTST.....?

personally for a low mount setup i would just use the cast manifold, if you want to go a bit crazy get it honed and cleaned up then ceramic coat it. Low mount s/s setups are reknown for cracking

If you want anymore than that, just go a highmount with a bigger turbo

haha, yeah you wouldnt want to high mount the stock turbo = ghey :)

i would just clean up the stock manifold, its not going to look as pretty as a golden s/s setup, but atleast you wont be taking the turbo off in 12months time to replace a cracked manifold

yeah its is, but something that cramped, with such big bends in a small place i wouldnt trust under the sort of heat a manifold reaches, especially being stainless

My GTR-S low mount was far less cramped than the current top mount. Plus it was in the main air stream going out of the under bonnet area and flowing down beside the engine and gearbox. The pipework ran much cooler than the current top mount, which has very little, if any, airflow past it.

Cheers

    • For something like this, I'd skip just going for the cheapest, I'd find the place with the best experiences people have had, especially for restoration work. Like everything, there is upholsterers, and then there is upholsterers. Some really great upholsterers for automotive restos won't even appear to have an online presence.   My guide would be find some of the old school classic cars that have been fully restored and are immaculate, and ask the people who own them who did the work on their seats
    • Might be tricky matching the seat trim material  If your got the funds you "may" want to get the rear re-trimed as well to match the front
    • How much is it to re-uploster?  Well that's a "how longs a piece of string?" question !  And I answer thusly: "twice half its length! " . . . . . .  Seriously you'll have to chase multiple quotes for that one from different uphlostrerereres !  Ask around, in your area and on the forums, chase reviews and most of all see the finished product in person cause photoshop is a wonderful thing !
    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings. It happens every time and it's confusing because all the threads say that it should take about 4.7L (With some just adding the full 5L) My next thought is to figure out if the dipstick I have is correct so could someone please tell me the length of the RB25DET engine oil dipstick?  I've checked images of some of the genuine dipsticks, but none of them have the length in it. https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-engine-oil-level-dipstick-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-stagea-c35-laurel-y34-cedric-gloria-rb25de-t-neo?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOortQXofgmiHVRKuIaiKuygL4k0Ewp68c3isGZk0vvKOJ7Yqf3iB However.... the engraving on the genuine ones say 05002 while mine says AA000. This makes me believe that maybe I have a wrong dipstick? I just want to confirm before I buy a new one. The car is a fresh import from Japan so I don't have details of the previous owner to ask him. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾
    • Sport. I didn’t rebleed it cause I just removed the slave and left connected.    I will change line and slave and see how it goes.
