Hello Gents,

A question that I'm wondering is whether it'd be a better buy to get an ARC (second hand) turn flow intercooler (Size: H270/L470/W70) or a new Greddy LS (Size: H280/L600/W76) for an R34 GT-T...

I'm thinking the ARC cooler being smaller will only effect response a little, but I dunno about how it looks... since its a little bugger.

Thoughts?

I would choose the ARC.

The turn flow will connect to your std ic pipes in the engine bay, which means you don't drill any huge holes through the car, which is a headache to clear if you get defected.

ARC make awesome coolers and are very efficient.

I was thinking along the same lines... just wanted to see what people also thought of the Greddy in comparison.. rememember.. the ARC will be second hand...

I bought a Blitz LM the other day, uses a similar design to the ARC where the cooler piping plumbs into the existing pipes, don't have to dice up anything. Can't remember what the dimensions are, probably a little bigger than the ARC one your looking at. If your just tossing up between the two you may as well save a few pennys and pick up the second hand ARC - good design, good quality, good price - my two cents.

Do not compare Just Jap China quality to ARC, Blitz or Greddy.

Sure if you are after a cheap cooler, go Just Jap, i did (just core, no piping). But if you are considering quality items stay with quality. ARC or Blitz in my opinion. All depends how much "second hand" the ARC is.

if ur able 2 look at the arc 1 have a look at the fins and see how many if any are bent from bugs and stuff. i have a hks return flow on mine with the standered turbo and it hasnt effected the response of the turbo at all to my knowledge.

i have the Greddy Type M front mount kit on my 33. Nice cooler, fitted well without any major dramas and I didnt need to trim the fan.

If I had the opportunity to use the standard piping on it, I would. Nice thing about the Greddy cooler, or any other conventional (non standard piping) cooler kit is that when I upgrade my plenum in the future, I can easily get a new pipe made and it will be nice and short, and good looking....

settle down captain, do you see me comparing anything?? i merely stated that just jap sell a return flow FMIC for the 34. That's it. Make of that what you will

most 600x300x 3" coolers are exactly the same(methinks a few factories make em all and most companies just label em)... but if you have the spare coin look into arc. they have some pretty impressive stuff they do alot of work with flow testing.

For a stocker car, that wont see more than a mild turbo upgrade (240-260rwkw or so)

Just get a Just Jap cheapie or similar is perfectly suited to the job and i wouldn't spend the money on the extra if your on a budget

iv ran 2 x cooler kits from justjap on "mildly" upgraded cars (im using the return flow one as we speak). Never had an issue, they do the job well.

Considering the price, you cant really go past them imo.

Save a few extra $$ and spend it else where?

Can someone explain to me this whole reoccuring 'return flow' expression? What does this mean anyway?

I'm just starting to move the GT-T up in the world so the cooler indeed will be the first upgrade I've done to the car... its pretty stock stock stock!

"Return flow" allows you to install the FMIC without cutting a whole in the drivers side front panel in the wheel arche.

A return flow cooler has the FMIC pipes running back to your "stock" cooler pipes, thus for it is NOT illegal because ur not cutting holes into the engine bay.

And as mentioned above allows you to use ur stock airbox as normal because it uses exsisting stock pipes.

using a NON return flow cooler where u have to cut a whole in the wheel arch is illegal in the eyes of the law and also wont allow you to use the stock cooler box.

With the cops cracking down on this kind of stuff i strongly recommend using a return flow system. If you dont, you will kick urself later.

if you got the money stick with arc/blitz

dont get the cooling pro, cuz honestly i regret getting it myself, its just a shit cooler.

for 345bux its not bad but im gonna have to end up spending more replacing the shit thing.

if you got the money, get the best
