without doing back to back dyno tests of JJ vs ARC, how are we to know (in a low rwkw application) if one is better than the other?

most people will be hanging around the 200rwkw mark (hence looking for a cooler upgrade) and if these are more than up to the task this end of rwkw town, why not use one?

the arc cores are something else.

They have blended entry into each tube. I remember seeing some pics at somestage (see if I can find them again)

The local guys ARE (www.are.com.au) make some excellent intercoolers and I know of a back to back on one with a china core make more than 80rwhp extra over a china core of the same size on a race car. They have flow designed end tanks with internal baffles.

The china cores offer some good value but, they aren't equal.

Where do you think ARC, Blitz and GReddy coolers are made these days. You guessed it...

That said, their cooling efficiency are more superior than your no named cooler kits.

Very true, but you also know they are made to a much higher standard, as mentioned above.

Thanks for all the great replies!

I'm thinking ARC then my friends, and hopefully soon.

If you'd like, I'll post some pics up onces its done! Hope to see some of you around on the roads!

Cheers!!

if ur able 2 look at the arc 1 have a look at the fins and see how many if any are bent from bugs and stuff. i have a hks return flow on mine with the standered turbo and it hasnt effected the response of the turbo at all to my knowledge.

I didn't know HKS made return flow? :)

Dammit, I want HKS return flow!

Speaking of, I've been told that the Greddy M-specs are the old plate and bar design??? Not fin and tube???

Is this fact or fiction??

The one on my car is :) Better flow, less cooling is what i've been told....

my personal preference is for ARC. their cores are lighter than most, AND they have very good flow over the core (something most people don't consider). this means your radiator still gets 'some' decent airflow. many people install big FMICs then wonder "why does my coolant overheat on the track" reason being from the factory everything is finely balanced and works together, you upset that balance and things go wrong.

having said that trust cores are very nice too. bear in mind the cheaper M spec and LS spec kits use cheaper cores. but fark they are cheap, and have very nice alloy piping. I wouldn't put one anywhere near my GTR but it was good enough for my drift pig silvia and at about $350 brand new good value too.

to sum up, I would get the ARC.

i just took delivery of a JJR return flow cooler (just jap) i'm only looking for around 200-220rwkw, so it should suit me fine.

i look every now and then on the yahoo auctions for r34 coolers, and i was never able to find a return flow cooler second, regardless of brand (MAYBE say a greddy one once) so good luck in finding an ARC return flow, second hand. But will prob be a great buy if you do find one.

i'll let you guys know how i go once it gets put on and i get a tune (have booked in an ECU remap with Dr Drift, should be interesting, as i don't know any other 34 owners with a doc remap, and i think i'm the 34 guinea pig on SAU with the JJ return flow as well)

hey SS8 Gohan, tell me how you go with your ECU Remap cos im thinking of doing the same thing.. and how much does it cost to do the re-tune?

im currently running a blizt pod filter , 3inch turboback with high flow cat and a Turbotech boost T running at 10PSI.

Is it worth doing a re-tune or should i get a cooler as well?

the earliest booking i could get was Aug 12 :P so it's a few weeks wait, hopefully i can be fitted in sooner

$960 drive-in/drive-out, that includes the new daughter board as well, well that's an R34 price.

a pod filter just sitting out on it's own in the engine bay?

i'll be retaining the stock airbox, but replacing with hi-flow panel filter, and other than that, we have the EXACT same mods.

if you're going to track the car, i suggest getting a FMIC, if not... perhaps just get an R34 SMIC, actually, being an R33 i'd suggest upgrading. The R34 SMIC are not bad as is, so i didn't really have to get a new cooler but i have and will continue to track the car so i felt it was necessary.

hoping to get 200rwkw, but we'll see.
