hello im planning to do a rb25 gearbox swap in my 32 as my second gear syncro has unfortunately decided to let go. anyway one of the guys at work has told me the 25 box will bolt straight in except that the 32 tailshaft will be too long for this box. is this true? if so can the r33 tailshaft be used? im eager to do the conversion because my mates giving me the gearbox for free (lucky me)

The guy at work is wrong on both points......

There are 2 or 3 fairly informative gearbox swap threads in this section which cover everything you need to know.

In short;

The box will bolt up to the engine

the yoke is a different size

you will need custom tail shaft work, the extent is up to you

you will need a modified crossmember if your car was originally manual

you will need a navara or 32gtr speed sensor and swap on the r33 gear and add a new locating notch.

you will need to do a bit of wiring

quick edit, you need an r33 slave cylinder too.

The tailshaft will be longer. You can use the top parts of the tailshaft (which goes in the gearbox) and weld it to the bottom part(which goes into the diff.). If you do this you will have to balance it though.
