$1200 for insurance? you must be talking about a 32 right? Im paying 2100 for mine for a '96 33 mildly modded at 19... Plus there not really that fast stock

Doesnt really matter whether you or me think that they arent that fast stock.

In the insurance eyes they are fast, high powered performance machines.

that combined with young age and gender of male = High insurance cost.

im 1450 for my r33gts t... with clean driving record @ age of 21.

Cant really compare insurance anyway... all depends on each person circumstances.

The warranty is not a scam or filled with loopholes , whats on that list is covered and whats not is not. We can happily show you previous warranty claims. You dont have to come back to us if you dont want to either and the warranty is transferable to the next owner. Its the largest after market warranty in australia.

don't worry, i don't doubt your honesty  just that theres nothing worse than your parents buying you your first car and having to pay for repairs when something major gives up. i might ask the old man to take me for a visit to your yard :(

if its your first car, i'd be carful with the turbo

im not saying dont get one but make sure you take it easy, even stock ones have enough power to do some damage

maybe even look into getting a non turbo one for a while first (i have one for sale  )

i have seen the cars at autoworx and they are very clean examples

nope R33 96 Series 2 as well, white manual stock except cat back exhaust

this was 3-4 years back when there wasnt enough idiots crashing these cars for spare parts

i had a clean driving record back then, worse then horse shit now :P

  • 6 months later...

bought my car from autoworx and i can say im pretty damn happy with it.

dont look at odometer reading cuz most of them have been wind back. if da car is genuine, the odometers should look perfectly straight then you'll know all details of a genuine car is there. the main thing to look at is mechanicals; make sure its not leaking tho you wont really any leaks from skylines much, oil is not gritty and black but autoworx changes the oil anyway or any weird noise tho some noises are not a major concern. most of the problems will be taken care off by autoworx so you can be pretty sure you get a good example.

for insurance, well, im paying 1700 and its under my name but might go up since ive made a claim( does anyone know by how much? im with Just Car insurance) which is hefty but i guess thats the only drawback from owning a turbo car when young tho its pretty fun having a skyline for 1st car; fast, good performance and plenty of attention, but sometimes unwanted: you do get people trying to have runs with you but becareful as undercover cops will try to do that now( i saw the boys in blue in a camry coming out of da northside nissan ramp)

hi, i have several questions about buying a skyline :3some:

1. the Odometer :3some: obviously they must be rolled back right??? i'm considering buying an r33 gts-t from autoworx car yard but its impossible to have that low kms for so many cars right??

2. how reliable are they?? as a first car i honestly don't want to be stuck with expensive repairs

3. has any1 dealt with st james auto trader before?? i saw a car there that i was interested in.

thanks

skylines a great first car

my first car was a R32 skyline and it is still going strong

+1

Depends on what you compare it with, it might not seem that fast when compared with other modded imports, but compared with your everyday mummobile Camrys & such they are a hell lot faster (& better, I should add :) )

im 1450 for my r33gts t... with clean driving record @ age of 21.

Thats cheap, I just changed my insurance cover from 3rd party to full comp & JC is charging me ~$2k (& $2.5k for excess) on my stockish (only mod worth mentioning is the fart cannon) auto R33 & I had no fines so far as well.

Guess the fact that I'm still on my Ps (did my driving test really late) is the killer here :(

I got a quote from JC a few months ago, $1100/year, $450 excess for an accident and $1450 excess for fire/theft (that's with ALL my mods, they wanted an itemised list and photos before they would agree to more than 13k though).

thanks for all the feedback guys. so in general, since autoworx is quite reputable, most ppl generally don't encounter a problem with the cars they buy from there?? its tempting to buy a 96 white gts-t from them.

wat about that silver series II they got? oh wait thats mine ;), i was supposed to pick it up yesterday but had no plates, monday i shud have it. autoworx has great cars for great prices, DC imports down the road had series II's for around $15 - 17grand but then again they were clean as f**k, 97 models with 70,000km's on the clock. but a 96 model 90,000km for 12grand was more affordable wen u add insurance and all the rest, even that was pushing mi budget.

dealers selling 96 models for 12 grand?!

fark me skylines are worth less then $2 hookers soon

not for long, these are the last of the stock they got before the dollar went to shit, so ppl looking to buy imports from dealers shud buy up now. ive spoken to a few dealers and they're not getting any more 33's in anytime soon coz the price will be too much for wat the car is

hey champ good luck with getting your 1st car i no that distictive imports around the corner have nice 33 that look lik brand new wen i brought my 33GTR it had a stamp on the inside of the door with washy washy written on it but had they kms written there so i new mine wasnt rolled bak but some cars with high km run even better than others with lower km. just remember anyone can change your seats as easy as rolling the clock back on the car. Also with the warrenty it is the number of claims to the model of car which plays affect to how much you pay im 20 an my 98 gtr cost me the same as my mates 95 gtst with ful comp lol.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
