Hello

I have a RB25 on my RB20 but I am saving for a stronger turbo that will allow me to boost more and get more hp. What turbo would be good to get for this? I dont have 2000 dollars to spend on a turbo. What can I get for 1000 dollars? My goal is 300-350 hp. I will do the fuel pump, injector and computer upgrade later

Help

You are better off doing the ECU,full exhaust and fuel pump now before you go to a bigger turbo.

But if you want to be disappointed that your new bigger turbo is not making power because you are hitting R&R or running out of fuel then go right ahead.

I have an RB25 with a high flow, at around 300hp i am maxing out the standard ecu, fuel pump and injectors, from what i know the RB20 injectors and fuel pump are smaller than the RB25 so i cant see you making 300 - 350 on your standard items.

There are 2 gaurentee's in modifying cars:

1) Power costs money.

2) You get what you pay for.

You have to spend the money and lay the ground work before you can step up, if you dont have an exhaust with full 3" turbo back including cat and dump pipe then that should be your first upgrade and will give you more power just there, pod/panel filter is also a must, then try upping the boost, after that ecu, injectors and fuel pump are next on your shopping list.

But if you insist on just going a bigger turbo then the easiest and probably best bang for buck would be an RB25 high flow.

Spend $200 and install nistune in your ecu.

Upgrade fuel pump, around $300

GTR Injectors $600

Find a second hand Turbo that will make the power u want

U could maybe do it all for 2K expecially if you find a bolt on turbo

Nistune/remap good option, nice flowing exhaust and FMIC.

Bosch 040/023 fuel pump for $180 delivered

You'd be mad to pay $600 for GTR injectors, you can get brand new (with warranty) 550's for that.

As mentioned many times: cheap, reliable, fast pick 2 of the three :P

Agree with all, except GTR injectors can be had for as low as $200(if your patient), but don't forget resistor pack ~$50 or make one for about $20.

You will have to budget for a tune, unless you confident in doing yourself.

While the RB25 turbo will run on the RB20 quite happily, it will have a lot more potential to be unlocked by a good tune

    • Nope, still smaller rear, put on the 4inch exhaust and picked up power everywhere, ended up just shy of 800rwhp.   Didn't seem to be hitting any walls either, so perhaps could have pushed for more but all maybes and the fish that got away etc etc.
    • Races cars don't care for VIN either...
    • This could be sold and shipped to the US for many gold pieces. RMS has no say in that. Ask various Western Sydney inhabitants how it works.
    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
