hi guys,

im getting the trust/greddy timing belt kit which includes the seals & bearings...has anyone changed their timing belt themselves on a gtr???

ive been contemplating whether i do this myself or not, ive changed timing belts & timing chains on my previous cars which was simple (make it top dead centre etc) but not sure if i should do this myself being a gtr - am i going to run into any problems if i do this? im assuming the crank bolt will be super tight - im also guessing the radiator etc needs to come out for accessibility.

ive got the workshop manual to check tolerances, torque wrench & other tools required.

i also had it tuned so im worried that the CAS might be out when i put this back on, can i just mark it with pen & put it back in position??? will the new belt also change my cam timing??? last thing i want to do is destroy my tune after spending a good amount to get this right but if its as simple as swapping over the belt & putting the CAS back in the same position im happy to give it a go :P

thanks guys,

the cas is easy, if its never been touched before, when you undo it you'll be able to see where the bolt was originally, otherwise just mark it with a permenant marker or white out if you're worried.

The crank bolt will be very very tight, but you will also need a harmonic balancer puller because its pressed on, other than that everything pretty straight foward if you're good with turning spanners. If it was me, i would also replace the water pump while everything is undone.

Just remember make sure everything is absolutely spot on with the belt, these arent a free running engine, the valves and pistons WILL HIT if it jumps too many teeth.

Goodluck
