I am in the pipe for a job in the red centre, Uluru to be exact...

while the first 3 months atleast will be living from a suitcase I will need a car and my stuff after i have settled into the position.

my main concern is the fuel.. whats the price and what quality can I get there (heard that 98RON is not available...)

any other issues? such as air/fuel filtration?

any help on considerations to ensure my GTR adapts to relocation would be appreciated

and I'll be sure to deck it out like a prime mover once I settle in and get into the spirit of it all :P

cheers

Jesse

98 BP Ultimate is available in Alice Springs at $1.90 from 2 outlets at the moment.

Last time I went to Uluru the Mobil only had 95 premium and all the stops on the way. Unsure of prices.

Quality can be dicey at some of the roadhouses, but we have no problems in Alice.

There are 3 BNR32's, 2 BCNR33's & several other skylines/imports around Alice.

Most of us run pod's and have no problems with air/fuel filters. Usual service intervals.

Some have found dyno readings here to be lower than when tuned interstate due to being higher above sea level.

In my case Adelaide=407hp Alice=382hp @ back wheels.

We seem to get less attention from the police & rta/mvr than interstate which is a bonus.

Drags are held monthly http://www.cadra.com.au/ and we have a Shannons car show on July 26-7th coming up.

Sure we can find you a B&S style 5 post bullbar and aerials for the GT-R to get you in the spirit. :(

Well answered ozzy, saves me saying anything..lol

I'd be very cautious taking it to Ayers Rock, there's a lot more dust and more chance of dirty fuel and I don't know if they have 98ron. the drive between the rock and alice can be great fun though..

yea, I guessed the dust and fuel might be a bit hardcore.

the job has perks tho, like dicounted tours and free shuttle bus to Alice so I wouldnt be driving it all the time. keep the boost on the low side me thinks.

heh, just trying to work out if I would actully get all the way from Ayers rock to Alice on a single tank.. maybe not...

cheers guys, I'll let you know if I get the job, have my second phone interview tomoz

You might get from alice to the rock on a tank.. 500k's sitting on 110/130 all the way.

In Alice I don't have any trouble with fuel apart from cost, and dust really just gets the car dirty quick..

We have some pretty good roads here, very few potholes.

How did the interview go?

still hanging out for them to set it up, apparently resorts take an age to do thier recruitment process.

job been vacant for 2 months so they wont much around for to long I would imagine.

The other thing I was wondering is s there any jap specialist/turbo shops in Alice?

cheers

Not realy any specialist shops here.. :P

There are a few guys around who are quite knowledgeable though.

i usually try to get any parts interstate. as for tuning, consider having it all sweet before coming as there's not really anyone here that can do it properly.

There's plenty of good mechanics around but very few are experienced with imports, though this will be rapidly changing with the amount rolling into town..
