Grunta
Hey Guys, Finally got them fitted, only 4 weeks sitting in my garage. And first impressions are they are Great. A real noticable increase in power in the mid range. Got it dynoed before and after. it gets a nice increase in the mid range and only about .3 of an increase in peak power, but I wasnt expecting an increase at all. They improve the sound of the engine (imo) dont have a zorst tho, (thats the next step) and then it should sound sweet. here are some pics of them fitted, (cant really see much), and the dyno graph. Does anyone have a set of the cobys and a before/after dyno? Vik
Hmmm, nice. Exhaust would be good. My next mod on the car would be the same. New cat back, new cat, extractors. central coast person
i brought some DKNE extractors and they are great. lol you guys are lazy as, im 17 and took my engine out in 6 hours the other day, mechanic Lee at maitland reboared the engine by 1mm (credit to this guy he does heaps of skyline reconditions all year and knows his stuff ) brought my oversized pistons, and all my other bits like bearings and valves and pumps, clutch etc .... and put the extractors on myself and noticed a design problem .... the o2sensor is only able to read 3 of the stalks on the extractors ( can be seen in the picture ) so my uncle plugged up the original place for the o2sensor and made a new on further down and it reads SOOOOOOOO much better. thats all i could find wrong with them they are worth the $420 and make a nice sound, so im happy my cars had about $4000 on it and im getting a dyno run soonish Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/224376-dkne-extractors/page/3/#findComment-4059150 Share on other sites
SHANE666
WOW Andy, thats effing impressive man...please post your dyno sheets up!! Have you notified DKNE of the 02 Sensor problem? We're not lazy, we're just waiting for more problem such as the one you mentioned to come up. Nothings worse than 10 or more people receiving extractors only to find that they have to spend extra dough for them to be operational. (No, you hit the nail on the head - We are lazy.) haha Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/224376-dkne-extractors/page/3/#findComment-4059205 Share on other sites
central coast person
cheers shane, yeah the 5th cylinder was scored something fierce (my uncle reckons something fell down in there when they were doing a spark plug change or something.) the injectors in my top end are very fragile at the moment (plastic is weak) so i have found many top end problems but the bottom end is out of the way and no more engine cranes :banana:I think there is a well known place in Tuggerah a lot of people use because i need a 4wd dyno. Ill have the dyno runs up in 3 weeks because im busy for the next 3 weeks and spending a lot on "other tests" ..... with my Ms's the thing is all company's do this because its convenient for the customer because they can just stick the o2 sensor straight on Coby do this too, Note* you have to re wire the o2 sensor. Its worth it because all you have to do is go to Supercheap and buy the wire and take off the short wire and re wire it to length. My uncle knew they were going to be likes this because he knows someone with a XR6 ute that had to do the same problems because after 2 min of driving the ecu would be confused with the wrong information from the o2sensor Turn this thread into a Coby Vs DKNE Thread by posting up some characteristics of the two everyone! Grunta
Hey guys, Been running around now for a few weeks and havnt really missed a beat. The first tank of fuel after getting them fitted I noticed I lost a bit of fuel ecconomy, but I not sure if it was just due to the fact the car was running at a higher fuel mix ration (seen on my dyno) or because I loved the sound my engine was making and reved it all the way out for the next few days. I reset the ecu (disconected the battery) drove it around for a while, and now it seems to be back on the beat. I think the ecu has learnt that its only reading half of the exhaust gases and is now giving a better air/fuel mix. Today, I also got the rest of my exhaust system fitted up. Just a custom at a local exhaust shop. 2.5inch mandrell bend from the cat back, straight into a sports muffler, with twin chrom tips out the end to keep the stock look. But boy does it sound great. havnt taken it on the highway yet, but I dont get much of a drone, sounds great revving up, and settles down at crusing speed. so now I have a full exhaust system, dkne extractors - 2.5" piping - cat - 2.5 inch piping - sports muffler. so far, im pretty please with the results. Now I just need to get my car fine tuned for the new set up. Hey Eug, do you know anywhere in bris that can tune the 34 ecu's ?? I know they cant do much, but just a small adjustment to get my 34 running at its best. Grunta
I'm kinda lucky I bit the bullet and went in first. DKNE done me a faily decent deal. I got the extractors, HPC coating, con pipe, cat replacment pipe (rrp $88) and postage all for $675. They are really well made tho and worth the money in the long run. Ive got much better response and more power in my mid range. The exhaust guy also mentioned they are pretty decent and really well made.
