Hey Guys,

Finally got them fitted, only 4 weeks sitting in my garage.

And first impressions are they are Great. A real noticable increase in power in the mid range.

Got it dynoed before and after. it gets a nice increase in the mid range and only about .3 of an increase in peak power, but I wasnt expecting an increase at all.

They improve the sound of the engine (imo) dont have a zorst tho, (thats the next step) and then it should sound sweet.

here are some pics of them fitted, (cant really see much), and the dyno graph. Does anyone have a set of the cobys and a before/after dyno?

i brought some DKNE extractors and they are great.

lol you guys are lazy as, im 17 and took my engine out in 6 hours the other day, mechanic Lee at maitland reboared the engine by 1mm (credit to this guy he does heaps of skyline reconditions all year and knows his stuff  ) brought my oversized pistons, and all my other bits like bearings and valves and pumps, clutch etc .... and put the extractors on myself and noticed a design problem .... the o2sensor is only able to read 3 of the stalks on the extractors ( can be seen in the picture ) so my uncle plugged up the original place for the o2sensor and made a new on further down and it reads SOOOOOOOO much better. thats all i could find wrong with them they are worth the $420 and make a nice sound, so im happy :ermm:

my cars had about $4000 on it and im getting a dyno run soonish

WOW Andy, thats effing impressive man...please post your dyno sheets up!!

Have you notified DKNE of the 02 Sensor problem?

We're not lazy, we're just waiting for more problem such as the one you mentioned to come up. Nothings worse than 10 or more people receiving extractors only to find that they have to spend extra dough for them to be operational. (No, you hit the nail on the head - We are lazy.) haha

cheers shane,

yeah the 5th cylinder was scored something fierce (my uncle reckons something fell down in there when they were doing a spark plug change or something.) the injectors in my top end are very fragile at the moment (plastic is weak) so i have found many top end problems but the bottom end is out of the way and no more engine cranes :banana:I think there is a well known place in Tuggerah a lot of people use because i need a 4wd dyno. Ill have the dyno runs up in 3 weeks because im busy for the next 3 weeks and spending a lot on "other tests" ..... with my Ms's

the thing is all company's do this because its convenient for the customer because they can just stick the o2 sensor straight on Coby do this too, Note* you have to re wire the o2 sensor. Its worth it because all you have to do is go to Supercheap and buy the wire and take off the short wire and re wire it to length.

My uncle knew they were going to be likes this because he knows someone with a XR6 ute that had to do the same problems because after 2 min of driving the ecu would be confused with the wrong information from the o2sensor

Turn this thread into a Coby Vs DKNE Thread by posting up some characteristics of the two everyone!

Hey guys,

Been running around now for a few weeks and havnt really missed a beat.

The first tank of fuel after getting them fitted I noticed I lost a bit of fuel ecconomy, but I not sure if it was just due to the fact the car was running at a higher fuel mix ration (seen on my dyno) or because I loved the sound my engine was making and reved it all the way out for the next few days.

I reset the ecu (disconected the battery) drove it around for a while, and now it seems to be back on the beat. I think the ecu has learnt that its only reading half of the exhaust gases and is now giving a better air/fuel mix.

Today, I also got the rest of my exhaust system fitted up. Just a custom at a local exhaust shop. 2.5inch mandrell bend from the cat back, straight into a sports muffler, with twin chrom tips out the end to keep the stock look. But boy does it sound great. havnt taken it on the highway yet, but I dont get much of a drone, sounds great revving up, and settles down at crusing speed. so now I have a full exhaust system, dkne extractors - 2.5" piping - cat - 2.5 inch piping - sports muffler. so far, im pretty please with the results.

Now I just need to get my car fine tuned for the new set up.

Hey Eug, do you know anywhere in bris that can tune the 34 ecu's ?? I know they cant do much, but just a small adjustment to get my 34 running at its best.

try dr drift. he really popular.

i wnna get these extractors. but no money!!!

probably get the xforce 2.5 inch cat from just jap soon.

Andy, dyno graphs yet!?

I have a cheap X-force for sale in Syd..

Clicky linky in sig..

Is anyone still up for buying these headers now?

I contacted DKNE to see what sort of pricing they could do on a group by and this is what we've been offered:

This is quite a bit cheaper than their current listed price http://www.dkne.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=415

With this in mind, are you guys still up for a group buy?

I'm kinda lucky I bit the bullet and went in first.

DKNE done me a faily decent deal. I got the extractors, HPC coating, con pipe, cat replacment pipe (rrp $88) and postage all for $675.

They are really well made tho and worth the money in the long run. Ive got much better response and more power in my mid range.

The exhaust guy also mentioned they are pretty decent and really well made.

    • So where is this message group so we can organise another meet? Keen to come along and catchup. Might eventually be in a skyline again next year, but the Mustang will have to do for now. Also need to get the WRX back on the road. Stupid f**king money pit that thing is.
    • Stock equivalent turbo replacement is a bit of a nightmare. The old Hitachi ceramic things were pretty good for their time, but they have primitive, vintage aerodynamics. The only thing they have going for them is a light turbine**, and there are plenty of other light turbine options these days, in both materials and CNC manufacturing methods. So, the old stocker makes absolutely no power at all compared to its physical size and its (not very low) boost threshold and response. ** and the ONLY thing that was good about the ceramic turbine was that it was light. In all other respects it is a nightmare. To get a turbo that is anywhere near equivalent in terms of power capacity (ie, to avoid it being "bigger" and needing tuning/fuelling/etc) you have to physically downsize. And that is not a "stockish" replacement. Doesn't just fit where the old one did. At least a frame size down, probably need a new dump, probably need new inlet and outlet piping made on the compressor side, new hose connections as D said above. I say, if you have to suffer that much work, you might as well do the same work to fit an even bigger (than stock) turbo, have more power (and hence have to do injectors, ECU, etc), and love life, instead of suffering with stock power levels. Or, you get a light highflow from someone like Hypergear. A highflow that has not been pushed too far from stock. There are still modification consequences here though. HG's cores are smaller than the massive Hitachi core, so it is shorter, moves the compressor housing backwards and requires mods to the air side piping. Plus new hoses. Looks stock, mostly fits where the stock one did (with the previous caveats mentioned), makes a bit more power but can be run at stock boost levels and not cause too many ECU problems. But, seriously. It's 2024. Like - 25 years since the R33 came out. It's time to put an ECU in it. I Nistuned my car (on RB20 ECU then later again on the Neo ECU) and it was the single best thing possible for minimal money. Dial out the R&R bullshit, fix up the fuelling and timing to make it more efficient for normal driving (cut fuel consumption by >10%). Nistune is not an option for you unless you change the ECU, so you might as well just do a standalone. it will be worth it. And then you can tune it up to the limits of the injectors and AFM, which is pushing 200rwkW and enjoy some actual squirt, instead of the lazy barge-like motion you get from a stock engine, turbo and management.
