Hey guys,

DKNE have just sent me an email confirming availability of extractors for our rides. There is a link below, follow the navigation to find it.

Price is $480.00, and $45.00 for 'connector' to the cat.

What do you guys think ?

Im not 100% sure what's going on with Hesh's group buy. Think he has gone ahead with it for the UK club.

If you guys express enough interest, I am willing to lead a possible group buy as long as I can finish things off before 2nd semester of uni (we have 7ish weeks).

And as usual, Eug - your opinion please :thumbsup:

Thats very steep mate..

A group buy will defintely lower the price per item.

There isnt a picture of the extractors either so we can't comment on the flow/build of the product.

$45 for the connector doesn't seem too bad but bear in mind it still needs to be welded on.

hmm true 480 is quite steep. hopefully they can post up some pictures and more information so we can maybe make a collective decision.

alright i'll get straight into it.

  • dkne has been banned as a forum user as i had complaints about spam advertising via pm (irrelevant to the product but says a lot about business ethic). thus they will not be posting any pictures on the forum - if any transactions are to occur i'm sorry to say it will have to happen outside the forum or run as a GB.
  • since it appears that this is their first (or near first) attempt at headers i'd like to see:
  • a sample product or at least a picture
  • description on primary and secondary sizes
  • design of the headers (collectors, etc.)
  • quality of welding
  • material
  • option of outlet sizes
  • any dyno graphs or something that proves there is a gain
  • gaskets?
  • the collector will not fit different styles of cats (some modification maybe needed - may as well get the exhaust shop to make one up)

by no means a checklist, but something to think about. you could all be guinea cops for all you know. it seems to be that this is a product yet to be proven. i hold no bias to partsco but at least their product had been widely used and that's what sold me.

it'd be great to have a local supplier, i suggest someone go do some research on their other products to see the quality of their workmanship for starters. if someone local is keen, go bite the bullet and purchase/inspect one - would hate to see 4-5 unhappy group buyers with a product no one had seen before.

hmmm, well now i know a little about their history im a little hesitant now.

i dont think a group buy or any benefit they receive from us is appropriate if they havn't cooperated in the past...

I rely on business ethic when it comes to a business stance.

It seems like they lack information aswell, but im gonna' keep an open mind i guess, some more relevant information on the product itself wouldnt hurt.

They should have some sort of facts and figures sheet. Ask them for one, they wouldnt just produce a product and "claim" it has power gains if you get where im coming from, lets just sit back and wait for this information so we can see how it goes.

And anyways, how much would it cost to get the extractors welded onto my RB25 ?

Any experiences or quotes?

alright guys i have been contacted by DKNE and i have explained the ban situation to them. to put it simply unsolicited spam advertising via PM is a violation of forum rules.

however you guys are free to organise group buys with them (they are just not allowed to promote on the forum without registering as a trader).

below is the information i have received regarding the questions i put up before.

R33 R32 will need pipe work to connect to cat we supply the rear flange and gasket of extractor.

We have read the link. We have never posted any comments on the forum, We choose not to be given a bad name for situations we have never been involded in, nor did any body from the forum ask for any information about the product.

It has been 2 days since we designed these products and have sold 6 around Australia already, In order to create trust with N/A skyline owners we will be happy to provide one set to any user for a discounted price $420 posted to their door step including con pipe if it is for a r34. $10 will be donated to the forum.

Hey Guys,

They put a pic on their site, Its not a real high res pic, but from what I can see, they look pretty good,

They appear to be much tighter up top, will proberly stick closer to the engine and run along side the block then have a sharp drop down, whereis the cobys pretty much drop down right from the get go.

The welds appear to be pretty good. its hard to say which one is better.

I guess we need to see some flow rates etc.

it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison

the DKNE ones look pretty good, they all seem to be equal length, and, by the looks of it seem to be designed in mind to suit many rb25 configurations (r32, r33, r34) to miss all steering and/or brake lines and/or any other accesory lines

and - once you factor in the shipping of the coby extractors to Aus, the DKNE ones are not that much more expensive

somebody needs to bite the bullet and buy some, and, if they are willing, borrow some coby extractors and do a side by side comparison (SOTP and dyno)

Well, I have sent an email to DKNE, just waiting for a reply back, I will probably "bite the bullet" and go ahead and get a set.

If anyone is on the sunshine coast or Brisbane with the coby extractors and want to compare when I get them, we can arrange that.

overall coby are still cheaper thru the group buy no matter what..

That is a big draw back to DKNE, but being mainly built around the R34 with the with the stock airbox and connecting pipes being taken into consideration on development, they are a better choice for myself than the cobys. And with the cat flange plate already welded on for a direct fitup to the r34 cat position, you will save a few $ there as the cobys have to get one welded on.

Thats my reasoning for chosing the DKNE ones over cobys. hopefully they have just as good or better flow rates :ermm:

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
