hey guys im new to the forums, ive got a 96 33 gtst some simple mods fmic 3'tbe mbc running about 10 psi.

recently i have been getting a problem while the car is under full load. boost will wind up to about 10psi and the car will hesitate and almost cut out the a moment later kicks back in at full boost. almost like fuel is being delivered at incorrect pressure or not in time.

am i right to say this would be a fuel/pressure related problem rather than a boost cut or computer issue?

would it be as simple as a new fuel pump and fpr

any ideas would be really appreciated

thanks guts

ben.

could be rich and retard - do a search for that and R&R to see if descriptions match yours.

could be fuel pressure related as well, only way to check is with a guage setup and take it for a drive, all std mechanics should be able to run a check on that while you drive the car.

wow....same car and problem here......my car is at TGS Performance as we speak, getting a new Denso Fuel Pump. (<>$450 fitted)

I'll let you know how I go.

Cheers.

see thats what direction i was heading in, the way fuel is delivered (or lack of) points towards fule pressure issue possibly from pump malfunction or failure. another idea was to check lines to see if blocked and also install fpr. i picked up a turbosmart fpr and am going to get a walbro item which are necessary modifications anyway and see if there is a difference.

ive just been converted from owing a subaru rs liberty so am fairly new to the rb25. if ecu was going into r&r mode then would it throw a code?

im pretty sure the r33 dosnt have r&r mode which only happen if u touch the standard boost solenoid wiring but these days u c so many skylines getting around with it disconected and then running high boost!

the r33's certainly do have R&R and it feels nasty when it cuts in.

it is air flow based not boost reading.

so if it is r&r mode then how do i go about diagnosis/ fixing?

ok so car is now running wastegate pressure and problem is still occuring. thinking of just sourcing pfc (which is logical mod anyway) and seeing if it rectifies problem. anyone know any good pfc tuner in western sydney (im in castle hill)

Hi, just an update after getting the car back (as above).

It was a heavy duty Bosch (in-tank) pump they installed (don't know why I said Denso earlier)...car now picks up smoother and more linearly (not in stages as it use to)....but still hits the 'sudden stop' syndrome when using higher gears and pedal to the metal......(Jolts badly).

When in a low gear (1st 2nd) no probs...very quick.

I have just gone out and taken the bleeder valve off my car (back to stock now..around a boring 7psi, not 11-12)....will test drive and see what happens.

Looking forward to seing if the 'black soot' returns to my rear bumper bar.....like it use to!...

But I do recall a little while back that a split was found in my IC piping, that was fixed and all was great....might have to get it all checked out again, I don't have the back for it right now.....hopefully the CT scan on my lower back I had this morning will finally find the answer!....to that problem anyway.

Anyways...I'll come back after a drive, if I can, shortly.
