I noticed the difference when i went from a 10w 60 edge to the 0w 40 edge motor ran cooler and it felt like better acleration.

the new 0w-40 ran cooler.. thats good. my GTR as the oil gets older u can see the temp on oil guage start to rise bit by bit. its on the line most of the time now.. :)

im my GTiR i ran magnatec, then i ran 10w-60 and big difference.. so yes even i can feel the difference..

mate u gotta tune urself to the car.. be one with the car.. u dont drive it she drives u.. :)

It's amazing how many placebo feelers there are. Some of you guys have siad it makes the motor run smoother, idles better, turbo spools faster, etc.

Does it make your radio run smoother too? does it make your seat more comfortable?

Honestly, any difference in feel would be hardly able to be felt. It'd be interesting to see if the oil was changed wihtout them knowing what oil is actually in there to see if htey can feel it.

Well yes you would have an idea of what oil viscosity was put in due to the gauges they are those things on the dash board with numbers on it.

As said, temprature and oil pressure is a indication on the gauges.

And the gauges on my seat and radio definately make it a better ride, KNOB.

ok, now ive done a heap of real world thrash testing and i have come up withe these 3.

ultimate in temp and pressure control. penrite sin 10w-70

for those that dont try and kill there engines penrite synthetic 5 5w-60 (and who are scared of the 10-70 rating lol)

budget and very ggod. penrite hpr10. 10w-50

these are by far my first choices. ive tryed mobil, shell, castrol, valvoline, motul, elf.

another good one to mension is castrol r 10w-60. (now edge 10-60) a good oil but tends to sludge up pretty bad.

Do try to shy away from wide spread multi-grade oil like those 10w40 or worst 10w50 weight, most wide spread multi-grade oil had to use VII (polymer) to control the rate of thinning under increase temperature. These VII are the weakest link and will break down under heat or pressure thus forming carbon deposit & possible sludge.

Let me know how u go, would be interesting to see if you have the same differences with it running cooler.

And does anyone know about the Roil Gold oil additive is it anygood, and does it do what it claims.

is a solid oil pressure a good thing??

i use Fuschs 10w-30 and my oil pressure guage is rock solid...that good??

also the pressure stays on 2 (whatever measurement on stock GTR guage)...is that good? high?low?normal?

Cheers

anyone having troubles with the performanceclub.com email? i keep getting bounce backs...

EDIT: so don't mind me.... it's performance LUB.com, i'm like, why the fudge is [email protected] not working!!

whoops!

ive put in 0w-40 edge last night. started her up.. she sounded louder.. but prob my imagination. oil pressure looks bit lower than normal during cold start ups. but she was driven prior to the change. had a 50+ oil temp when i did the change. then when starting it was off guage and the water temp in cold. warmed her up to 70 and took her for a under 3krpm drive., and parked her. havent touch her since.

seems smoother.. maybe louder. will see what highway driving turns out like. :)

my brother put the 10w-60 edge in the GTT yet to see how that went. he ended up spilling 4L of it cause he nipped the oil filter rubber seal and split it.. :) and when he started it up sprayed the engine and driveway with liquid gold... he didnt even clean it up he just ended up going late night shopping.. that cockhead. repco replaced the filter and gave him $15 off on new oil.. barka :)

check the cold start rating on the 10W60...will be quite thick at startup until it gets to op. temp.

What oils are ppl using in there engines?

mainly interested in RBs and turbos but whats the news

Hi, Has anyone tried Comma Motorsport Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 5-50?

The recommended retail for this item is $95 and produced in Britain by BP.

But l get it on discount as my boss imports this directly.

I bought it for $40 =D

Can anyone give me some feedbak if anyones used it before.

Cheers

ok so i finally drove my GTR today.. it was wet.. why not. i drive it prob 2 times a week.. :O

she drove absolutly perfect. smoother than the GTT and quieter too. the 0w-40 is a big improvement on oil temp looks like drop of 4 degrees. and engine revs more freely. :( it sees street use only so no need for the 10w-60.. the GTT gets more of a thrashing than my gtr does. what a sad thing to admit

hey guys i ahve an r32 gtst.... reallycant be eff'd readin 24 pages lol

can someone sumerise it?

ne ways

doing whole change of fluids...

engine oil

gearbox oil

2 way diff oil

coolant

everything

what do you guys reccomend

pretty stock rb20... just want it to run smooth

how does the castrol saf-xa go against castrol syntrax 75w-90?

saf-xa is a API GL6 and the syntrax is an API GL5, the saf-xa is also 75w-140

which would be better for a series 1, R34 GT-T (coupe), slightly up'd power, no track work as yet or very, very little

cheers,

daniel

Depends on where you are using the Syntrax :domokun:

Syntrax is better for gearboxes because of its appropriate friction modification, the SAF-XA is better for diffs due to its higher viscosity.

On that note the Syntrax is not meant to be used in Clutch LSDs, but this isn't a problem in helical/viscous LSDs.
