quick question guys, i stupidly put about 700mLs extra oil into my car. it was on a hill and i was clearly asleep, cos when i checked the oil it looked low, due to the hill, and i put some more in, before thinking f#$%^&k!!

im doing oil changes every 1000km (or 2 weeks, they're pretty much the same) cos of the poor treatment the car had before me, so the next one is due next weekend. will the extra oil be a problem?

People overfill anyway, 700ml is nothing too worry about.. people put 6l in their track cars where 4.5l is specified in the workshop manual

I'm putting 4.2lt in mine and thats over the full mark on the dipstick by about 5mm after leaving the engine stopped for about 5 minutes after running, I would imagine if I checked the oil immediatly after I stopped the engine I may squeeze a couple of hundred mill more in and maybe on the full mark but thats a big maybe .

Does the R34GT-T take a bit less oil than the R33s ?

Just noticed on the Nissan 7.5x30w oil Nissan spec the change period at 3 months.

A little extra oil shouldn't be a problem...of course there is a difference between a little extra and filling it up past the valvetrain :)

Get bowl/pan...turn sump bolt anti-clockwise until drips start...turn sump bolt clockwise...wash hands...easy :D

The good thing about 5L containers is that your 5th oil change is basically free lol. Oh and for the people using Sougi...in case you didn't notice there is a service sticker on the back of the bottle.

I found out today there's a GW distributor in Brisbane. But they're not a full on distributor and don't carry much petrol product on hand. They get their stock from the Gold Coast distributor funnily enough. Anyway here's the details:

Today I reminded myself just how much of a legend I am. Did an oil change for a friends car, and used Sougi S 6000 for the job. Had the car draining the old oil nicely, and let it sit for a bit. Then screwed on the new oil filter, and started to fill er back up again. Only problem was... I hadn't screwed the oil pan bolt back in! Legend. 3-4 L of the good stuff now mixed into some old black oil. So an expensive mistake on my part, but I sure as heck won't ever forget the bolt again.

lol, i was so very close to forgetting to put the new oil filter on before filling 2 weeks ago. was doing a coolant flush at the same time and got a bit mixed up, could have been bad if id started her up :$

where abouts is the oil pressure sensor, does anyone know?

LOL you poor bastard. I've done this myself though, well technically. Not much worse than seeing 4 litres of Sougi bite the dust. The only consolation is that it's not Motul and even if you have to buy another bottle of Sougi you've only wasted the savings you made from not buying Motul in the first place hahaha :(

I was changing my oil and had a mate helping me out. I made the mistake of letting him put the new oil filter on for me...he put too much oil on the oil seal! So when he put the new filter on, the seal actually slipped outside of the seating groove unbeknownst to him. Engine started up, and given we had my exhaust removed from the front pipe back, we thought it would be fun to give the engine a couple of revs. So there I was blipping for about 30 seconds with no f***ing oil in the crank because it had all leaked out the oil filter! Good thing we noticed quickly or I'd have been up for a new bottom end lol. I had to use the old oil filter's seal on the new filter because the filter had cut through the new seal. Needless to say I installed the filter again myself - but it can happen to anyone, particularly if you're doing a couple of things to the car at once.

Hahaha nah. It's not a necessary procedure and most oil filters come with pre-lubed seals anyway, but I always get a tiny tiny smidge of oil on my finger and run it around the rubber seal to ensure it's well lubricated before screwing on the filter. That way the seal beds properly metal to metal (assuming you don't have a mate who over does it!). If you've been doing it your own way and never had any issues with leaking then be confident you've been installing filters correctly :P

At some points when im driving with the music loud i cant even feel the car, Dam !!!

But seriously i definetly recommend Sougi S600 for ur next oil change be it for the track or the streets...

I have an NA RB25DE R34 25GT 2000 year model, Is this the best oil to be using? It sounds like everyone here agrees it is wonderful, but is that because your all running turbo charged beasts?

Im currently using Penrite HPR 10, 10W-50 Semi Synthetic, anything wrong with that one? It was recommended to me by my mechanic for my other car which is older, but he recommends it for most cars.

yes, but you can never put oil in that classifies as too good

I have an NA RB25DE R34 25GT 2000 year model, Is this the best oil to be using? It sounds like everyone here agrees it is wonderful, but is that because your all running turbo charged beasts?

not everyone using it is turbo. its probably not necessary to use a grade 5 oil for a non-turbo, but this is grade 5 oil for grade 3 price, so you can't go wrong.

10w50 is probably too thick when hot. most people use something-w40 (5w40 or 10w40). its more flexible since you're not smashing the cylinders with a turbocharger, but you can never take too much care of your car

Glad to hear it. From my own experience, my car is now running better than at any point I've owned it. Since I've done alot of work on my car lately, I think it's the culmination of all the things together that are making a noticeable difference.

And yeah, the car running on Sougi feels quieter, smoother and kickass. I liken it to when I had a skateboard as a kid and put new bearings in the wheels. A nice dash of oil in each, not tightening them too much, and wow did my skateboard glide on air after that.

Had my first real drive of my car using Sougi today, and she simply flew. Did 300kms round trip and the car felt like she wasn't even breaking a sweat. Going to crunch some numbers at some point as I'm hesitant to say it, but the gas mileage feels like a major gain at present.

I still find it odd that so few of the oil companies actually sell a 10w40 oil. Nulon does, Motul, Royal Purple and Sougi do, but no Castrol, no Mobil, no Penrite (havn't checked the Sin series). I think weight is of equal importance as much as whether or not it's a synthetic.

Eric, I was using Penrite HPR10 previously for about 6000kms and I will never use it again. I always had a gut feeling the 10w50 was the wrong weight oil for my engine and now after letting her rip on the highway today, I have to say the Sougi is the best oil I've ever used. Everything is more responsive, going to boost, quieter engine, feeling like it's gliding along instead of labouring. Granted I have not used Royal Purple or Motul, but still Sougi is the best oil I have ever personally used, and I can hear and feel the difference. All I can say is buy some Sougi and try it out, I'm pretty sure you won't ever try another brand of oil again.

just bought 10w40 castrol today to use for the next 1000kms (1000km changeovers, old oil, poor prev owner, told this story too many times lol). but there was also a valvoline, several shell's and mobil, so there are other 10w40 options, just none worth considering haha

Guys, if you are trying to find Sougi...as said...please read the last few pages for info. Otherwise this thread will just be repeating itself over and over.

Good to hear mate! Hope you guys don't mind if I pass on some of these comments to the MD's at GW, as they always like to hear feedback from their products and this will contribute towards keeping Sougi in production / the price down. Not to discredit Sougi, but you will particularly notice the difference if you have been using a heavier grade of oil prior to Sougi - I feel that 10w40 is thereabouts the perfect grade for RB engines, definitely the smoothest all round. Now remember, in some engines this oil does not take long to turn dark - do not take this as a sign of the oil breaking down - merely that it has done a bit of a draino job on your engine. I've heard that RB engines are pretty carbon intensive so this could be responsible for that.

It's designed for turbos and highly modified vehicles but you can certainly use it in anything naturally aspirated that calls for a 10w40. The turbocharged peeps might notice a bit more difference after using because turbocharged vehicle behaviour isn't as balanced/smooth/linear as a naturally aspirated vehicle consequently more sensitive to different viscosity grades. I would avoid a 50 weight unless your vehicle has racked up alot of km.

It just so happens though that 10w40 need be a semi or full synthetic in order to achieve those viscosity grades. Mineral/synthetic is more relevant to how often you change the oil, however, certain additives can only be used with synthetic oils which is why overall a synthetic oil is ideal.

Interesting call on the fuel economy - I too would like to see your number crunching. Technically the lower viscosity will put less stress on engine internals and ancillaries (like the oil pump itself), thereby reducing rolling mass and increasing your fuel economy along with power/torque. This is one of many reasons why an engine will not perform as well when cold as it does when warmed up: the oil is alot thicker when cold. So it's not that Sougi gives you better fuel economy or power so to speak, but more that it doesn't rob as much as thicker viscosity oils.

Is that Castrol Edge, or just plain Castrol. Oil change every 1000kms would be expensive if you keep having to do it. How many times are going to change it?

Yep Sougi is full of goodness. I should be a salesman for the stuff as I've told so many folks about it lol. All thanks to this thread and Birds for even knowing about the stuff.

Yeah I totally agree, the right weight is critical to the running of the car. I knew right away the Penrite HPR10 I was "recommended" to buy from Autobarn wasn't the right stuff within minutes of trying it. It felt too heavy, too thick and the car took way longer to get up to running temperature. Even then it felt ok, but never great.

Since I've done quite a few things to the car recently, I can't then specify exactly what's made the big difference in the feel. It's on boost quicker and smoother, feels more powerful, is quieter, got a hunch my gas mileage is better too, and gets up to running temperature way quicker than the old stuff. Knowing it's got good cleaning detergents in it, is a nice thought too.

I'm a very satisfied Sougi customer :D. I hope more folks try it as you have nothing to loose, and possibly a lot to gain from doing so.

It is funny how every 10 pages the best oil to use changes.

First it was motul, then it was chrono 300v, then it was royal purple, then something else now it is Sougi.

Is there someone injecting information into this thread to get sales? I don't doubt they are good oils but it just looks funny (I just skimmed the last 20 pages and have read all the other before).

Well I won't lie, I "convinced" one or two people to try Sougi (and by that I mean: posted my experience with it as a consumer myself) - but as a fellow enthusiast trying to save another money as per discovering a gem of an item myself. I distribute for the company but it means nothing for me sales-wise given they're buying it from other distributors in their respective states anyway. Sales reps and distributors don't bother fighting over individual bottles of packaged oil, there's no money in it. I get a nice ego boost from helping someone out though.

Chrono 300V = Motul. Both Motul and Royal Purple have been praised in this thread with good reason, because they're at the top of the oil game and therefore receive positive word of mouth amongst enthusiasts. It's just that Sougi has now been added to the mix as per a couple of people trying it and finding positive experience with it. This group of elites will grow everytime someone discovers the latest and greatest oil.
