Post GOR Casualties....

Just wondering if it's just mine, or is there anyone else car has taken "casualties" from the cruise...? I mean mechanically.

Was turning right at a roundabout somewhere in Otway, accelerating after roundabout in 2nd was fine, changed to 3rd then.... goes rattatatata (sounds like japanese drag cars holding their revs at the startline in HPI videos).

Car then acted strange, hesitates at 3000rpm, 5000rpm.

Won't hold boost to 10psi, boost hesitate, then jumps up suddenly, then drops back to about 6 or 7psi. Oil pressure goes low too, below 2 when idle (normally above 2), when driving only around 4 (normally about 6).

Oil level still fine. Now I have to drive my car like a Gogo Mobil collector, gotta have it checked soon in a few days...

Any other casualty stories (Mechanical related only)?

Yeah same thing with the oil rs73. Find it sitting below 2 when idling and I just changed the oil on Saturday too. Usually it is up at about 2 and 4 when cruising.

And my left suspesion sound a bit suss.

Let me know if you find anything with the oil pressusre issue.

well, I wouldn't say accelerating 2nd and 3rd is taking my car to limit. I only ran 10psi boost, and was driving within reasonable limit at that time... revving to about 4000-5000rpm only.

that road condition in otway rain forest was terrible in some places, think my stock suspension gone a little bit floaty too now, could have stuffed. gotta hav that looked over after engine's taken care of.

One area was bad through the Otway. 40ks rough surface. I think I did the most damage there as well. After that it felt really float flying at the straights.

If I do replace my shocks, how does Bilstein or Koni handles that rough surface there, are they gonna dislodge my kidneys?

I heard with jap shocks like Tein, I might have to visit the donor bank for kidney replacement...

well even tho i didnt go on the cruise, my car spat in on sat

i now have constant 4ws

the car thinks its travelling at over 80km/hr (heavy steering, also constant 4ws). i think this prob is only a plug that has become filled wif oil

and now the aircon pump has done itself and my car now sounds like its supercharged

not happy

considering ive been quoted for the aircon pump at $250 (2nd hand and not installed)

oh well...car seems fine for now except for cosmetic damage alot of rock chips on the bonnet and front bar and a nice big fat scratch from some shit ass ford ute or some shit on the way home that hit my car thought it would of cracked my screen very lucky.

I have tein suspension, at those speeds you don't worry about bumps, but i would recommend the Bilstein or Koni for everyday car. They handle nicely and are far more comfortable.

Ever consider the whiteline full suspension kit? My mate has just had it fitted and he loves it, recommends it too.

You always have to leave extra gap for flying rocks.... oh well, at least they're not big chunk of rocks falling off the cliff. I had seen this rocks when driving to GOR on a rainy day, boulder rocks as big as a footy ball fell off 15m ahead of my (rented) car. Lucky didn't land anywhere on the roof, cause judging by the size of it, it may have gone through the roof.

Yeah, maybe whiteline kit would be great for every day driving. Although some said for serious track use, it may not be optimum. But I'd rather set my car for daily driver with comfy shocks, as that is my 99% use...

Its not the safest route for crusing, but you do learn a lot... If you guys want a similarish hill climb route, up the Dandenongs is a nice route with similar twisties.. i'll take whoever wants to come up there sometime.

Night time is best for it.. but then there can be problems with condensation on the road - gets pretty slippy.

the ford was from the other side...was ripping it up when the road was the shitest and one fo the big rock went smack bang.

yeah the dandenongs are a great cruise, i go up there a bit at night when there are not many cars around....the cars sounds awesome as the sound echoes off the side as you are climbing up....

i hear a full whiteline package is great suspension wise...

i have climax and tein, very bumby but also very good, how ever drift spec teins in the back of my car can get a little hairy

i've got the same problem as rianto, except worse (my oil pressure goes to almost 0 at idle, 2 during accel). Going to ICE thursday morning for gerald to do a compression test.

I'm also noticing misses at hard acceleration, it became worse over the course of the trip

and my gearbox is falling out

oh well i guess its part of the fun???

Sorry stupid questions but

Is it a major problem that the oil pressure is so low?

I though the compression test if for the cyclinders etc?!?!

I just went for a drive again and it seems normal again. Might have to wait till out the week and see what happens.
