ok guys i'm not usually an angry person but upon hearing the latest news i blew my top :(

Just heard on the news that since Mike Rann's government took over 6 years ago, 1.3 million people have been fined for "speeding" for driving between 61-69 km/h by the laws that they have passed. This equates to around 212 million dollars of bullshit revenue that they get from us. What this means is that you or someone you know has been a victim of their crimes against us drivers.

This personally affects me as i was caught couple of times for doing 67 and subsequently lost my licence because of it, and its not just me. These laws have cost many people i know their licences because of alleged "speeding".

Sorry guys, i'm not usually this political but it just gets my goat that i'm not even allowed to drive my car normally anymore. Its like every two seconds I have to look at the speedo to make sure i'm not doing 1km/h over 60. Do they expect us to all drive like granny's? God forbid that someone would walk out in front of me while doin 66, don't think my massive brembo's are up to the task of braking!

And that people is what grinds my gears!

(Mods please delete if this is below the belt)

No i agree with him... i have noticed myself that i have become less attentive to the road and concentrating more on my speedo. So how is this going to help keep accidents down??

And they have never proven that there speed cameras are 100% acurate... So there using somethinf they know could be wrong but are happy to do so...

But thats exactly my point. They keep moving around what they consider to be speeding and it messes everyone up. When i started driving it wasn't heard of for getting fined for anything under 70. Now you just have a slight lapse in judgement and boom, your gone.

yeah its interesting that they began to clamp down more & more on speeds when they decided that Port Wakefield Rd needed a major facelift and that we needed an underpass on South Rd/Anzac Hwy!

Having said that, you won't get busted for 61 or 62 kph, I think the 10% rule still applies in SA unlike VIC that has a 5% rule now.

If you got a ticket for under 65kph I would be surprised if you couldn't argue before a magistrate that your speedo is out that far.

well rules are rules! they set them and we have to abide by them! even though it doesn't seem fair but when has it ever been fair? well probably a good time to get cruise control and a speed check because you never know! your speedo might say you're doing 60 but you could be doing 61

To much has been said lately about hoon drivers, speeding etc etc. The death toll will never be zero. Doesnt matter what they do. Every year more cars are on the road. Cars are getting older with new cars less affordable. And dont even get me started about the condition of the roads we drive on. So you cant honestly tell me they think by lowering the speed in which we get fined at will combat all of this and decrease the road toll..... how stupid do they think we are! lol

I read that too... the statistics are frightening!

60-69km/h Fines went up from

1515 Offences in 2002 to

100,800 Offences in 2007.

My god!!! Tell me, is the whole population speeding more, or is the government seeing an opportunity for a money grab. That's bs. And it's not just that too... do 35km/h approaching an RBT zone and you'll get pinged as RBT zones even though not signed are 25km/h.

How is this improving public safety... ??? Sorry Rann but you're out in my books in 2010.

When you fit rims / wheels, the ADR requirement in SA is that the speedo must be accurate to 10% or something like that (have a printout in my car). So say your in a 60 zone, doing 65, technically speaking thats not illigal as it could just be the innacuracy of your speedo, and you werent "aware" that you were speeding. Also, it used to be, and I dont know why they changed it, that you couldnt get fined if you were withing that 10% margin.

Personally I think its absoloutely bullshit that they fine you if your doing 61-65 in a 60 zone. I mean heck, it could be a split second when ur on a negative slope and yet you get done for it.

They're still just lowering speed limits all over Adelaide and sticking speed cameras there with the intention of catching out 'unobservant drivers'. Not 'speeding drivers', but 'unobservant drivers'.

I don't care what they call it, its REVENUE RAISING plain and simple. They don't really want us to be safer drivers, because when we do slow down and their revenue drops, they start lowering speed limits again and sticking cameras everywhere. They WANT us to be criminals. If we don't, they work out strategies to increase the number of speeding drivers. Remember the introduction of the bullshit 50kph limit? They introduced that one when revenue was declining!

:P

Think the 10% rule has changed here as well, not 100% sure on that...Just came back from Victoria a couple of weekends ago, and my dad's cousin who we spent a fair bit of time with is an ex cop and his wife is a cop and they don't have a % rule its 3km's over the limit thats it pinged...

Thing i don't get is we have an ADR rule that says your speedo must be accurate to within 10% of the nominated speed sign...Now apparently the state governments have decided they rule the roost and they've set their own % for speedo accuracy?? Doesn't sound right does it

I always thought dont speed dont get caught. ...well I was caught a couple weeks back doing 60km in a 50km zone, there was a paddock one side and just some old houses on the other side. wide open road. how was I supposed to know it was a 50km zone ? people could go down this road at 2345346km hour. :P

Agreed. The death toll has remained fairly static around 100 but population has risen and cars have got safer etc. Never will be zero... purely revenue raising on straight roads in low speed zones. Should be blackspot only.

    • If you've only done the upper control arms on the rear, AND you have changed their length (by more than about 1mm) to set the camber you want, then you will definitely need/want to install traction arms also. Adjusting the camber arms on their own WILL introduce bump steer and make the car unpleasant to drive. Most owners have no idea that their car could behave infinitely better than what they put up with. I'm not entirely sure what the Stageas need, but I am thinking that unless you have massive front spring rates and pretty soft rear springs, you have waaaay too much rear bar. Oversteer city, in my estimation. Combined with possible excessive bump steer from maladjusted arms, that could be a recipe for nastiness. ATR43SS2 is not a highflow. It is an outright replacement turbo. It's a little bit bigger than the largest highflow profile that Tao does. Probably a solid 300rwkW turbo where the bigger highflows will be about 30-40rwkW less. Nevertheless, we're only talking about ~300 rwkW, which is well within the abilities of the stock ECu to run with a Nistune on board. I would do so without hesitation - and I will be doing so when I get my finger out and actually get the injectors and AFM installed. But, if you would prefer to drop a whole lot more money on the ECU side, then I suspect you're looking at Haltech. The Haltech fanbois here will all spout on about all the available engine protection you can have, that you can't have with the Nistune option. And they're right. But it doesn't really come for free either. You will spend more money on extra sensors and the like, plus the work to install them. If the engine was built and therefore represented a big investment to protect, then I'd say definitely do it. If you view the current (and forever into the future) shortage of replacement engines as something to prompt similar protection, then also, do it. If you see a destroyed RB25 as an opportunity to put in a Mercedes or other V12 (like I kinda do)... then your perception of the risk/reward might differ. These are good injectors. You can also get a "better" set of the same with more flow matching, for more $$. 1000cc is where you will want to be. You will need an R35 AFM and adapter tube if you want to stay with Nistuned stock ECU. Otherwise, if going Haltech, you can ignore. As for intercooler. Just about anything will do. You're only talking about ~300rwkW. Just put a big core in there. Be aware that return flows do add significant pressure drop and will cost power and will make the turbo work harder to achieve the same goals. If you can manage a proper crossflow, do it. I'm keeping my very good return flow because I'm only expecting to be in the ~250rwkW range, and will live with whatever outcome I get.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
