Hi Guys,

I have seen a few ppl selling used secong hand clutches on the forums, and it seems no one wants them or they are too overpriced?

e.g.

Linky 1

Linky 2

My stock clutch is on the way out and i need something which can handle more power and regular track days!

How long could these clutches last for considering i would be going track days once a month?

if it was me i wouldnt buy a second hand one cause how long will it work for then shit it self. ya could buy 1 and get it rebuilt but by the time ya do that ya could buy a new one. i brought a extreme 5 puck drift clutch for $1500 dollars and thats sweet handles my 4wd launches at 6 grand, hasnt slipped yet :ermm:

2 success stories!! thats what i like to hear..

Now as for the two other links i supplied can you tell from the photo if they have life in them? or is it simply by the plate thickness measurement?

Linky 2 says plate thickness is [2.75mm] is that much?

I bought a second hand twin plate and it lasted me a year before i swapped it. It still has almost the same amount of meat on it as when i got it on a pretty standard gtr. It copped a few 6-7k launches as well.

People only take clutches out when they have to i.e. stuffed, slipping, glazed, damaged, un-driveable. So keep saving your money's and get something new.

i took out an ORC twin because it thought it was shit on the street... when it came out after 1000km it was literally still perfect.

i replaced it with a Nismo twin which is sweet and smooth like honey lol

bwahah.. god that statement gave me a laugh - have you ever bought a 2nd hand car?

aaanyways.. really depends on how much $$$ is a problem for this guy - how he treats the clutch once in etc etc- I wouldnt flat out say NO to a 2nd hand clutch -

dont forget if either of those clutches use a standard organic friction plate then you can probably just get a new friction plate for not a lot - or - if the buyer is local - leave a deposit and get the clutch checked out for wear by a professional

would you marry a prostitute...... anything thats been smashed that hard by that many people you don't wan2 be putting in your pride and joy
i bought a os twin 2nd hand for 500 buxs. bloody beautiful feels good and id have to say it wasnt near new by any means but was fine for what i wanted.

Yea, it all depends on your needs and how big your wallet is :D

It's just like some people are happy to repair their cars with 2nd hand parts, but some would want brand new. Just depends on what you want.

lol, nice one redevil.

Budget really isnt an massive issue with me, i know that owning a GTR and modifying it isnt cheap.

But that being said i have always made an effort to research and make sure that i can get the best possible deal, so far i have saved a bundle browsing the forums and picking up bargains.

Recently though i have formed the opinion that buying second hand turbos and clutch's is a bad idea.

Also i dont think a twin plate would be very drivable for daily use, and would be overkill for my power figure of 320awkw's
