I had a great time yesterday! First time on a track and DJ Brave said I got a 1.19 at some point. No offence to Wayne but I think my stock car on street tyres would have been a little slower than that, but regardless it will give me something to aim to beat for next time

I have found out I need to learn how to heal toe, I gotta brake way early at the moment with how I shift... or snap the clutch out and get compression lock up. Something to think about for my up comming driver's course at EC :D

I would love to see it as I have NFI how it sounds from the outside.

IMO, your Soarer was the best sounding car that day :)

What a bomb

Hey all,

Finally home!!

Thanks to all that made this day possible and to all the people that attended and competed as well as the spectators. Was a great bunch of people out this weekend and alot of fun was had by all by the looks of it.

It just took Dave over an hour to clean all the mud off my car from the lil excursion into the mud he took  If anyone got some action shots I would love to see them!!

Just downloaded the lap timer.... Dave managed an 1:11.2 and I managed a 1:14.2... considering my diff is fooked (open wheeling) and spun one wheel around half the track (even after turning the boost down and on slicks), I'm extremely happy my first real outing on the track in two years!!! BRING ON THE NEXT ONE!!!

p.s anyone got a 4WD system in development to bolt on to R33 Gtst's???? Puhlease!!!

was a good run in the last session with you , if u want awd why not get gts4 running gear, i managed a 111.06 on an aim laptimer (last session) with passenger. good day:^)

Ah that was you!!! Dave was driving obviously!!! Was defintely good fun :D We made up heaps of time in braking but exit speed on the corners... not soooo good... lol

Yeah its an idea, but guessing I might need a floor pan also to be cut and shut in..????

The new diff will solve alot of the issues (sitting in the garage, ran out of time :) ), also I need to get new suspension as the Teins are at the end of their lifetime... and they are only height adjustable..

Hopefully have the car a bit more sorted next time, just glad that the engine survived its first major test... 2 sessions in a row all day.... and no oil cooler!!! I hate to think what temps the oil reached :D

yeah i have too work on the brakes a bit, need too run some good fluid pedal was at the floor :), the new dba's are warped allready, might give em a touch up on the machine, good effort with the gtst running pritty good, wonder how much quicker your exit speed will be with a good diff/ mat

Well... Sounds like you guys had an awesome time! I swear I am not going to miss the next track day!!! Something always seems to come up, last time it was a blown turbo, this time it was crashing the car :D Third time's a charm right? When I think of all the money I've spent and the fact that it still hasn't seen the track it makes me want to cry... endrant.

Good to see everyone had fun, wouldn't a cold day have been better for the car? Greg congrats on the fast times mate, sounds like you beat Chubbs :) Everyone else who knows me, I hope to see you all again soon with the new car :D

Hey All,

What a day.

I've always said i enjoy the SAU track days the most, and again I was right!

Thanks to all the organisers and helpers on the day. You really made it run so smooth.

The V35 held up really well, and looks like I'm down to somewhere in the 1:17/16's (hand timed) which I'm quite happy with considering I don't have one of those cheating turbo thingamajigs :)

I did a high 1:18 in the second session with a 100kg passenger and only got quicker as the day went. Mostly because I took some "grow some balls" pills at lunch, and actually started braking where I should have been all along :D

Definitely get some hi temp fluid and decent pads.... I can't remember who but one of the 32's in Group 4 was having massive brake fade all day also....

yeah, should run quite a bit better... the ass was all over the shop to say the least, only able to put the power down in a straight line! .. Boost was wound down... but we did have the brakes/camber sorted... :D Still haven't added the last 10psi to the tune yet either. Started out at 16psi in the beginning of the day, think it was down to 12psi by the end of day trying to get some exit speed :)

All in all it was a great learning day for the car... and Daves dorifto skills !!!

Greg congrats on the fast times mate, sounds like you beat Chubbs :)

Only stirring ya anyway Chubbs :D I'm looking forward to hopefully bringing my new car(I binned the old one) to the next track day and getting some pointers from you :D

I had a top day- thanks to EVERYONE involved in the organisation of the day.

I was very impressed with the skills and attitude of all the drivers, no serious mishaps and reasonable times is something to be proud off.

Yea I have to agree,,,so many new drivers did very well.

Thanks for the time in the passenger seat Simon,,,so nice and bloody warm,,,. Pity there's no real lap times,,,I'm thinking you would be in the top 6.

Next time bring the Vee dub.

Neil.

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
