Use of the car?

Setup is pretty sound. Head will need a little bit of a tidy up.

3.5" at a bare minimum for the exhaust, preferable 4" for the flow

you might need a set of coil packs depending on the condition of the ones you have now also

The main use will be street with some track time.

Exhaust is a problem as my 3' is already 94Db and max in Vic is 90... so I cant go any larger.

Coil packs are Splitfire and HKS twin power CDI

What are people thoughts about going larger cam ie: tomei Procams 270, Lift 10.25mm IN and OUT

.

Yeah you can, im 92dB, 3.5", recently passed with under 90

So it can be done.

If your so worried about legalites with exhaust noise, id be more worried with every other single part on your car thats beyond legal and stands out like dogs balls

just because the exhaust is big doesent mean it has to be loud it all comes down to the mufflers you use. make it nice and quiet for the street. then you can get a straight peice of pipe made up to bolt on from the cat back with no mufflers for on the track.

you could make a cool pipe to exit out the side behind the door.

full noise!

regarding revs with the tomei spec B spring kit etc.. the redline will be 9000rpm

With other "non-legal" things on the car... well unless the Police crack open my engine, they can not tell thats its modified, externally with the exeption of the exhaust tip my car looks stock... and not a cop magnet... thats why I want to stay away from LOUD exhausts... My exhaust is a jap brand.. but the problem is all the exhaust shop will not guarantee that a 3.5 or 4" exhaust will be under or around 90db.. and to throw out $1000 I would rather look at it as a last resort...

Cams

Injectors

ECU

AFM

Pod/Intercooler

And thats just the beginning of what they can visually pick out in less than 1min. EPA are not stupid, nor are the cops these days

If you are going to worry about noise, but not the rest of the easy-to-defect items then you have your wires crossed

I dont really want to change this thread into a "Street legal " conversation, but the tomei poncams are mild, and unless they are experts they can not tell they have been changed... injectors are mounted on a machines standard fuel rail and are black, so again they can not tell... ECU, well unless they start pulling my car apart they can not tell again... AFM are stock NISSAN z32's and unless they know part numbers they cannot tell the difference. Pods are mounted in a Air box hence legal, intercooler is not huge and can be passed as standard and changing an intercooler is not ilegal

Willt GT2560Rs will come anywhere near 400awkw? They're smaller than the GT-SS'.

my 2560's are -10 and are rated at (400hp each)

there are -5 (320hp) and -7 (350hp), most people have the -5 as a standard upgrade over the stockies and they can do low-mid 300kw@4W... So I figure the -10's "should" hit 400

Cant find 2560-10's on the garrett site,

I could only find 2560-9's 4's and 1's,

and the 2560-9s are smaller than the 2860-5s, which when pushed may reach 400rwkw. But yours may be running larger wheels or something, dont know.

If i was chasing over 400+rwks, id be looking at the 2860RS disco potatoes.

But your list of mods looks pretty solid, similar set ups on the rb26 dyno thread are making around 350kw.

Let us know how she goes when shes put together.

hey champ a mate of mine own a performancce shop n knows his shit when it comes to rb engines. He did a r34 gtr with simple mods like boost controller 3.5inch exhaust power fc injectors fuel pump cam gears garret 2560-5 turbos with 17pounds of boost and made 370awkws so i think maybe it could be done easily with abit more boost n maybe cams n a few minor extras but this car is very responsive hits full boost at 3500rpm n is n animal so it just depends on who you talk to.This is the set up im lookin at for mine but im also gonna fit a tomei oil pump to protect it abit more. a mate also making 360 awkw with very similar mods so it shouldnt be to hard to get the desired power out of your car

Cant find 2560-10's on the garrett site,

Thats because as far as I know they don't exist. For some reason some people have developed a like for called GT2871Rs GT2860-10s.

Well that changes everything, if OP has a pair of GT2871Rs then he has some rather large twins at his disposal.

Whatever you reckon mate. Your wrong in so many ways im not going to bother.

3" exhaust is a choker, and being worried about noise is silly and you need a better exhaust shop if its that loud

hang on, so he needs a better exh shop if they cant guarentee a 3.5" will pass a noise test but you had to come on here looking for ways of getting yours quieter? hints to me maybe you also need to find a better exh shop or stop telling people its so easy
