The Shell roadhouse on the Hume Highway at Donnybrook has now closed (as of today, 22nd June).

This was a standard SAU Team meet point for trips north to Heathcote, Shepparton, Winton and even Sydney.

Let's all remember the dodgy bacon & egg rolls and seemingly constant freezing winds with a moment of silence...

For cruise/convoy organisers - time to find a new meeting place!

pffft better be demolished asap, that donnybrook rd/hume highway intersection is the worst

soooo many accidents its not funny, and some still even though they have the road works/building site

people just pull out and dont care about the other traffic there :)

The site is being redeveloped.

A new overpass is being built to improve safety and traffic flow - as well as a new servo/roadhouse that should use the 18-month downtime to learn how to make coffee.

there is a bp just off the bypass on cooper st that is pretty good, there is also another one further on past the shell, never eaten there but have stopped for a drink a few times, cant remember if it is past the winton turn off or not.

That'd just about me next door to your house wouldn't it Nick? :D

yeh the overpass bridge is rite on top of the shell where it is

wasnt sure if demolishing or redeveloping, but expected redeveloping as that Shell is very popular and racks in the $$$

What? They know of coffee other than Nescafe Blend 43?

Hehe - yeah... more happy times Ash, more.

Funny thing - there's a Niva on eBay at the moment noting it has the usual Lada problems including broken window winders.

Glad to see it was a factory option :D

I can't find any pix from Donnybrook - but this one illustrates why it was a good idea to stop there...

LOL... Happy Times....

Well we could meet at...

1. BP, Cooper Street, Somerton, just turn off the new Hume FWY at Cooper Street, Turn right and the BP is on your left.

2. Mobil @ Seymour, about 35+ kms past Donnybrook Shell, easy off the HWY and easy back on. Plenty of room for parking.

Unsure about the food at either place TBH.

Just a few suggestions.
